BIG RACE PREVIEWS

14.20 1M LISTED FILLIES STAKES

We’re pretty sure we were kicking ourselves last year for not backing KON TIKI in this but that then and this is now.

Ed Walker won this race in ‘21 and has SYNCHRONICITY in this who perhaps should have been a bet last time out, but there were mixed message about her temperament, especially first time out. She’s by absolute gun sire NIGHT OF THUNDER and out of SYNDICATE which makes her a FULL sister to OMBUDSMAN! The yard love her and think she’s special.

SO REGAL can be a bit of a hot heat but has got the job done the last twice. We backed her at HQ and we feel that performance can be upgraded given how much she pulled. She looked great last time out under hands and heel and you’d expect being a full sister to CHANCELLOR that there is some improvement to come.

PACIFIC MISSION has been busiest of this lot, she was last seen in the Breeders Cup! She’s got a lovely Juddmonte pedigree meaning she should have trained on but this is a hot starting point for a seasonal reappearance.

ACT OF KINDNESS reps the boys in blue and their mood is blue… Appleby hasn’t had a winner for ages. We’ll be taking on on that basis.

LILT is the second LOPE DE VEGA in the line up repping the mighty Shaggas yard who are going great guns. Her half sister DOOM was touted as a weapon a few years ago but never quite lived up to the hype. We’d want to see this girl do more.

FASHION PEOPLE has been well backed the last twice and obliged for her punters. She needs major improvement but she’s only had the two runs so it’s not entirely impossible.

Varian’s BOTAGOZ is a big price which is fair but at the same time a little unfair on the basis we think others should be bigger.

Verdict: Walkers SYCHRONICITY put all the fears about her temperament to bed on debut and should go well here but SO REGAL looks smart already and having had more experience can win this for Cheveley Park.

15.30 5F LISTED MARYGATE FILLIES’ STAKES

We backed PRINCESSE D’ORANGE on debut after a good message for her. She’s by ARDAD who isn’t the greatest sire but he dam side is smart enough - it’s a page littered with nice horses.

LOVER GIRL is by GREGORIAN who is a very unpopular sire. Amo must have seen something in her to buy her although admittedly she was a cheap price for their standards! Her last race at Salisbury was warm with several fancied but she won well and could prove a shrewd buy.

NIEWIADOMA is one from one. By COTAI GLORY and out of a dam related to LIBERTY BEACH. Archie Watson has had a good start to the season with his 2yo’s. Hard to weigh up after the one run but we’re not sure the form is that great.

LADY BLANCHE is by new sire PERSIAN FORCE who has had a few winners. Reps Karl Burke who unbelievably has had a really slow start to the season and his 2yo’s are getting beat. By design? We’re not so sure! That said, we are waiting on a Wathnan rocket trained by him who should be a great bet.

Of the rest, LOVE A GIGGLE was expensive and nicely bred and ANGELS PASSING has a savage pedigree.

Verdict: A non bet race for us but we will be looking at ANGELS PASSING who has a lovely pedigree to note and go well, whilst we think PRINCESSE D’ORANGE can confirm her ability and win. Will Cheveley Park get a Listed girls double with SO REGAL too!? We think so!

16.05 1M 6F GROUP 2 YORKSHIRE CUP

AMILOC is an RA winner, Group 2 winner and Breeders Cup fourth. Progressive form and the market thinks there is big improvement to come at even money. He needs to prove he can win over this far but his pedigree means he should love it.

RAHIEBB is by the GOAT FRANKEL and was last seen going close in the St Leger. A lovely pedigree but he needs to get his head in front again - he hasn’t won since his debut!

EPIC POET is a globe trotting star for O’Meara. He’s good but vulnerable to younger legs today, he’s 7yo now.

AL NAYYIR is 8yo so we’re taking him on. STRAD won this race at 8yo but this lad is not STRAD.

Of the rest, DEIRA MILE is interesting. He’s 100/1 which is huge given he was fourth in the Derby and the Leger. Probably worth a beer money bet just in case he rediscovers that form.

Verdict: The money is absolutely screaming for AMILOC and we have no interest in taking him on in another no bet race.
