Equinties - York Ebor festival day 3
Gm Equinauts
Yesterday was a brilliant day for the newsletter with five bets returning two big priced winners.
If we thought we had a good day, Ed Walker had a BRILLIANT one as he threw a ball right from the boundary and took the stumps clean off bagging two winners in CELANDINE and SCENIC.
Other’s having a good day… well, obviously Coolmore did, again.
It turns out that even if you are out of MECCA’S ANGEL, a Nunthorpe winner, and you pull your head off in a Group 1 over 1m4f, you can still win a good renewal of the Yorkshire Oaks as that’s what CONTENT did yesterday on the way to winning the feature race.
EIGHT wins in the Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks for Aidan O'Brien!
3/1 favourite Content lands the Group One feature on day two to continue a fine Ebor Festival for Ryan Moore and Ballydoyle 👏 @yorkracecourse

In what was a pretty open market, the GALILEO filly was her dad’s 100th individual Group 1 winner thanks to a piece of brilliance from Ryan Moore.
He said in his post-race interview that Plan A was to get her to settle, but once that didn’t work, he had to work out what was best to do. As it turned out, keeping his mount up the far side rail while the action played out up the centre was a good substitute.
A word does need to go to EMILY UPJOHN who looked like the winner two furlongs from home, but she failed to find much off the bridle.
She clearly hasn’t got the same engine as she once had, but that also wasn’t Shoey’s finest hour. We aren’t trying to pile up on him, but if you just keep her in a bit more cover (especially with the hood off) then you probably could have kept her mind on the game for longer.
As for CONTENT, she could well be off to the US for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare.
Aidan O’Brien said: "The pace was stronger and she did keep coming, Ryan said he was surprised after being so keen how much she kept coming from the three-marker. She'll be better in a faster-run race.
"They go a fast pace on fast ground and that should improve her a lot. The petrol she was wasting today, in a faster-run race she'll be saving all that petrol. Today was pure courage."
As for O’Brien’s other Group 1 winner yesterday, we also have an update about him…
WOLVERHAMPTON FOR CITY OF TROY!
That’s right. CITY OF TROY is off to either Wolverhampton or Southwell!
“Finally, Aidan O’Brien is campaigning his horses correctly” you can hear Mick Appleby think aloud.
And before you think this is clickbait, it really isn’t, because the master of Ballydoyle is thinking of a trip to the tapeta for the Juddmonte International hero before his next likely run: the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
He said: "It looks like City Of Troy is going to go straight to the Classic and I think he's going to go either to Southwell or Wolverhampton for a gallop on a different surface."
You can’t fault the lads or O’Brien - they really do strive for greatness with their horses and run them in races that will make them true champions.
Or, at least, they don’t keep them wrapped up in bubble wrap, even on a slightly smaller scale. Take WHISTLEJACKET as an example - he won the Prix Morny eight days after he was beaten in the Phoenix Stakes. Bravo.
Roll on Wolves then… we mean, the Breeders’ Cup!
Let’s dive in.
