Something special happened this weekend and it wasn’t CONSITUTION HILL (although he is very, very special and I agree with the RacingBlogger, I can’t see him ever being beaten).

So what topped that performance? Well how about one man going through the Aqueduct card in the US?

A member of BGP Capital lives in the Big Apple and apparently REALLY knows his US racing. One by one, they all went in like he was from the fucking future. I was left pretty speechless ngl, one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

BGP Capital members genuinely made life-changing money last night from exceptionally small stakes. And that was on top of a brilliant weekend already!

All round, it’s been a great weekend for everyone and betting aside, there is a lot to take from it so…

Let’s dive in.

Headline Roundup

A new Constitution at Newcastle?

From watching it, you wouldn’t think CONSTITUTION HILL was stepping into open company for the first time on Saturday. It was mesmerising.

He absolutely demolished the former Champion Hurdle winner and stablemate EPATANTE by 12 lengths in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle to take his fledgling career 4 from 4 under rules.

Last season’s Supreme winner made sure the racing world knew that his win in March wasn’t a fluke as he made all and cantered away from his defenseless rivals to record the fastest time the Fighting Fifth has seen this decade. Timeform gave him a 177p rating, the official handicapper is set to rate him 173, and Racing Twitter blew up!

Where next for this potential monster? The Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle was given by trainer Nicky Henderson as his preference and then onwards to March from there for the Champion Hurdle, hopefully against HONEYSUCKLE so all these stupid ‘who’s better’ questions can be put to bed. They’re a fucking waste of time.

This was truly an amazing performance and one people will be talking about for a long time… well, until he doesn’t it again.

Elsewhere up’North, L’HOMME PRESSE was cut into 7/1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup after his brilliant weight-carrying performance in the Rehearsal Chase.

When talking about future options, joint-owner Andy Edwards said: "My only concern was that he might be a bit ring-rusty round the fences. It will have to rain a hell of a lot for him to run in the King George."

The McFabulous duo

Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden continue to dominate the jumps scene with the as the pair maintaining a 26% and 27% SR respectively. They were in no mood to stop over the weekend as they combined for a hattrick at Newbury.

The best of these came through MCFABULOUS in the Grade 2 John Francome Novices’ Chase, a decisive winner to beat the odds on THYME HILL by six lengths without coming off the bridle.

The Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day is next on the agenda for him now, a race won last year by the now Charlie Hall victor BRAVEMANSGAME.

LE MILOS to the Grand National?

As predicted in our newsletter preview, the Skelton team landed the big race of the weekend at Newbury on Saturday as Dan and Harry teamed up for LE MILOS in the Coral Gold Cup, a determined winner to beat Pipes REMASTERED.

Despite Harry Skelton using the whip 11 times on the winner, something that would bring disqualification into the question under next year’s new rules, the seven-year-old continued his progression from Bangor to collect £142,375 for connections.

A tilt at the Aintree Grand National could be the next target for the ex-Tim Vaughan horse as Dan looks to give him a break after the weekend.

Mike upsets Twitter

And finally, the AMERICAN MIKE Cheltenham Festival backers were crying into their Sunday lunches yesterday as the 2/7 favourite bombed out in the Grade 3 Monksfield Novice Hurdle.

DAWN RISING, trained by Joseph O’Brien, saw off the Champion Bumper second convincingly to make it two victories in a row and further frank the form of Willie Mullins’ CHAMP KIELY, a novice who smashed this lad up by 22 lengths at Galway in July.

Immediately after the race, trainer of AMERICAN MIKE, Gordon Elliott, went on the defensive and suggested that there may be something wrong with his star novice.

However, jockey Mark Walsh was complimentary of his winning horse, as he said: "They went a proper gallop and there was no hiding place the whole way. The two of them were tiring coming to the last and I felt I was going to catch them either way. He's a nice horse. He was rated 102 on the Flat and I think he wants three miles. He stays all day."
