Equinties - Time to go to France
Gm Equinauts
We thought this a going to be one of two newsletters today, with the second part to be delivered to your inboxes later this evening. Dec’s have changed that though.
The horse we have been waiting for hasn’t been declared, no doubt owing to the rain we had last night but the forecast is dry now though and I have a feeling, in fact, we know exactly where he’ll be entered instead. We don’t need to wait long and it’ll be worth it - he’ll be a big price.
All is not lost however, there is another horse out this week which the results today will indicate if he’s a bet or not, another nice price pending.
Oh, and two more sleeps…
Let’s hope no more rain arrives at Sandown so he can make a nice intro make to the big stage.
Now, lets dive in.
BGP FANTASY LEAGUE COMP
We’ve been hyping up the TOTE’s new Fantasy game since we found it. Why? Simply because there is nothing else out there now which can help people cage the betting chimp while maintaining an emotional interest in the big races of the day.
People bet way too much and the Fantasy allows you to get limited risk on, fill your brain up with the dope it craves and still be in the mix for a big win.
If we hit 250 stables, top of the BGP private league get’s a new ‘GM’ cap.
HEADLINE ROUND UP
HRI alerted to appeal
Connections of Saturday’s Pretty Polly runner up, STAY ALERT, have put in an appeal against, well, Jamie Spencer.
VIA SISTINA bolted up in the Group 1 contest but took a few horses out en route to victory.
Look at her go! 👀
Via Sistina shows a great turn of foot to be first past the post in the Yulong Pretty Polly Stakes under @JPSPENCER1980 for @gbougheyracing.

As we stated in yesterdays newsletter, yes, interference undoubtedly was caused and yes, in a ‘fair’ and ‘sensible’ world…even a ‘safe’ world, one would argue that the horse should be disqualified,
but that isn’t the case in racing as evidenced so many times in the past both in the UK and Ireland. Owners are going to have a tough time turning that result around but fair play to them, their argument is wholly justified in our view.
Chindi(a)t
We did NOT see this coming. Our famous Saturday horse, CHINDIT, has been bought by an Indian buyer and will head off for stallion duties in Asia!
CHINDIT better brush up on his Hindi.

More famous for being that ‘nearly’ Group 1 horse, CHINDIT has been a great servant to his trainer Richard Hannon. He only ever did his winning at the weekend landing multiple black type races on a Saturday but going oh so close in this years Lockinge Stakes.

The 5yo, rated 115, will see off the end of the season and has an entry in thr Sussex Stakes at Goodwood next month, current price 33/1, as well as the Celebration Mile and City Of York Stakes in August.
He’s a solid performer with an aggressive racing attitude (remember he tried to Mike Tyson MODERN GAMES!?) and will no doubt make a brilliant daddy for the Indian breeding scene in years to come.

Time to go to France
He pumped the aforementioned CHINDIT to win the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, the head strong FRANKEL champ, TRIPLE TIME, has been set big targets overseas.

Likely to head to the Prix Jacques Le Marois in Deauville next month, the new king miler has to prove it wasn’t a fluke in the rematch with Gosden’s super star filly INSPIRAL.
Adam Ryan: “I think we are probably leaning towards France and the Prix Jacques le Marois…it’s nice timing between races and it will be more of a conventional track as well. he is obviously in the Sussex, as it was an early-closing race”
“It is tough because you have to make entries, but at the same time, it is never firmed up, because of ground etc. Horses map their own way you. Group one horses, we all know the races for them”
STATS OF THE DAY
Midgley lands just shy of 1 in 3 when running horses again within a week of a win. HEY MR 15.15 goes again having won last Thursday at Nottingham.
Pauling is 4 from 8 recently and runs MOLE COURT 15.23 again after his Worcester romp. Pauling is 10 from 28 in handicap chases at track.
Harry Russell is 3 from 7 for Ollie Pears at Thirsk and they team up on GOLDEN GAL 15.45.
Another stat for Thirsk, ROCK OF ENGLAND 17.20 goes for Bethell (he’s having a good season) who is 2 from 3 in these types of races at track.
YOUNG BLOOD
18.50 Epsom
CLOUD FREE is by SEA THE STARS and cost a measly 55k which is way below the sires average. His recent form doesn’t excite anyone and the recent rain will not have helped.
VAHA is by TIME TEST who hasn’t really injected that DUBAWI blood into his progeny. Beckett hasn’t messed around with this lad - this is his 4th run in 40 days! Clearly tough but he doesn’t look like he’s improving for it all and could be vulnerable against a good one. Will like the cut though.
SAHARA KITTEN lost to CLOUD FREE on debut, the soft going that day wouldn’t have suited though being by fast ground sire KITTENS JOY. The trouble is, the going today wont suit either.
COMPTON BAY is by NEW BAY out of a Listed winning mare in France. Cost only 18k - this race is full of cheap, well bred horses. Dam won at 2 but the family normally improve in time, she has only produced 2 winners from 6 runners but this looks a nice individual.
MAREFUORI cost 35k as a yearling. By AUSTRALIA out of a mare who only placed. She has produced one winner in one runner but in Italy. Direct family of DIKTAT, CAPE CROSS and IFFRAAJ.
Verdict: CLOUD FREE, on paper, reads the best chance but it’s worth siding with COMPTOM BAY in this weak event. Whispers are he’s okay and carries the nice stamp of a horse but as we have seen with SILVER TRUMPET Monday, anything can happen in 2yo racing. He’ll be a good barometer for another from the yard out soon.
RISK ON
For those who have scrolled straight past everything to land here first, read the intro.
For today, our Young Blood pick is worth a little risk on in a weak race. No certainty but the others aren’t much cop. The single today is:
16.15 LAOISMAN
Backing this lad really only to take on the weak fave who has had a lot of chances now. The right people on too. 3/1.
Burkes in the 14.45 is leverage for another bet, maybe add to a stats acca to keep the chimp locked up. You’re going to need your banks next week.
A couple of readers are at Epsom today and asked for a pick, it’s really tough. We have Eve’s in Young Blood. At a bigger price we couldn’t put you off TYGER BAY in the 19.25 - he’s back on a winning mark with young Billy onboard, but he wouldn’t be a strong selection. Enjoy the day out.
