Equinties - the Cambridgeshire day 2

Gm Equinauts
It is very rare we get a weekend of sport like the one we’re about to get right now.
The Ryder Cup and Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting. It’s a thing of beauty.
And that’s on top of the all the football.
If you’re not at Newmarket, find a television (or a couple) and tell the Mrs you’re not moving.
Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
DEWHURST DREAM
We have a lot of races and bets to get through today, but we’ll just reflect on yesterday’s impressive display from DISTANT STORM in the Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes.
Godolphin had plenty of chances in the race, and his Acomb Stakes form had taken a few hits, but he put this doubt well behind him at Newmarket yesterday to absolutely bolt up under William Buick.
🚀 Taking performance

He just sauntered into fame with less than two furlongs to go, and he pretty much had to make his own way down the outside of the back on the Rowley Mile track. That didn’t deter him one bit, as once he got to the front, he shot clear to win by nearly five winding lengths. It was a lovely performance.
Yes, maybe his opponents weren’t great, but a performance like that has to put him in the reckoning for Group 1s down the line, starting with the Dewhurst Stakes at Donny next month. Appleby said: "It's not the first time I've got one beat in the Acomb but it was my mistake. William was keen to get a pitch on him early on and, to do that, he asked him from the gate, and the only other time I've seen him be keen was when he was on the lead at home.
"We were adamant today to drop him in and let the race develop in front of him, and in doing so we've seen his acceleration. I think we've seen a nice horse in the making.
"William was impressed and, with the way this season is stacking up with two-year-olds, my initial impression is to look at the Dewhurst. If it were sound ground conditions, we'd be happy to take them on. He's definitely up there."
He’s now 9/2 for the Dewhurst and 11/1 for the Guineas. Maybe that Guineas price is a tough skinny, but there isn’t much wrong with his Dewhurst odds. If you can forgive him for the Acomb, he is very exciting, and he can hang with ZAVATERI and GSTAAD in the Dewhurst. Shaping up into a nice race.
