This is horse sh*t.

Let’s hope Wolves and Meydan can provide some entertainment today…

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

THE DREAM IS BACK

Ahead of last year’s Grade 2 Future Stars Bumper at the DRF, A DREAM TO SHARE was a horse that few people were aware of and as such, he beat FACT TO FILE at big odds.

Following a bit of time on the sidelines that has kept him away from making a long-awaited hurdling debut, the John and Thomas Kiely-trained six-year-old will be seen in that same bumper in early February as connections are delaying his first appearance over obstacles.

This news was, as expected, well received on Racing X…

As much as we try to go against the skeptics, we understand why this is being portrayed as a bad thing.

Frank Berry, racing manager to JP McManus, said: "We'll get him started back anyway but it's probably getting a bit late to go over hurdles this season. It will be great to see him out again and we're looking forward to it. He's in great form and John is very happy with him."

Because of his setback, it’s very plausible that he has yet to be schooled much, though it could also be plausible that he jumps like a ‘washing machine’.

But why might they not be going for the flat? He is by the mighty MUHAARAR out of a GALILEO mare, he has a proper Flat pedigree. If he can’t be beaten in bumpers, go take on the flat boys.

We saw JP McManus try his hand with DAWN RISING on the Flat for Joseph O’Brien last season and he managed to pick up a Royal Ascot success. With his obvious class, could a nice staying prize on the Flat be on his agenda? Maybe the Melbourne Cup in time?

JP has the ammunition in the winter, maybe he’s decided to have some fun in the summer too? Only time will tell.

JONBON VS EL FABIOLO

It has been well advertised that connections were not going to travel over to the UK twice with EL FABIOLO if Saturday’s Clarence House Chase was called off.

And by 4pm yesterday, we got the confirmation that Ascot was frozen and racing had been abandoned, ultimately putting a stop to the well-anticipated clash of JONBON against EL FABIOLO.

However, Matt Chapman confirmed yesterday that the star of Closutton had not left his box to travel over to Berkshire, so could we see the Champion Chase market principles clash at Cheltenham next week (assuming the Clarence House Chase will be rearranged to Trials Day like last year)?

His price of 4/7 for the Dublin Chase could be seen as a case of connections making their mind up, but with plenty of water to go under the bridge until then, that wouldn’t be the strongest piece of evidence.

MEYDAN FRIDAY

ITV RACING IS ON TODAY!

Oh, it’s Wolverhampton. Never mind. Lmao.

We’ll stick with the proper stuff overseas, in the desert.

Tom Marquand and Aussie trainer Michael Costa have a good chance throughout the meeting. Especially in the second race where they run MOJEYRR, the 6/4 fave. By PROFITABLE, he has been well supported and not missed in the market.

LASER GUIDED in the 15.15 is another shorty. Buick and Crisford were in the winners enclosure last week with Vespasian and this Kingman gelding is very well bred, his brother sold for a Million dollars on the Gold Coast last week and their sister won a stakes race at Gulfstream. Nap material.

15.50 see’s MANAMA GOLD take on FROST AT DAWN again, the former a ridiculously short price and the latter 12/1. Buick and Appleby run WILD GODDESS, who is by CAMELOT and can no doubt improve from her win at Newmarket lto.

16.25 the best race. Buick on a Godolphin hot shot, the Frankel filly ENGLISH ROSE. Charlie Appleby has won this 4 times in the past. (S)Haggas runs MYSTIC PEARL and she might be the answer. Form with German Guineas 2nd STENTON GLIDER who has been a ‘nearly’ horse, but a smart one all the same. SILVER LADY might have this run to suit and can’t be dismissed at an eachway price.

17.00 we have our old mate MYSTERIOUS NIGHT who we piled into as a 2yo when he won the Grade 1 at woodbine off 11/2. Well fancied today as is AL SALT for Jim Crowley and Shadwell who ran well in defeat lto in Listed company.

LASER GUIDED in the 15.15 is a cheeky single bet for William Buick who is on fire at the moment.

RISK ON

An easy winner for the newsletter yesterday as the promising sort for Gay Kelleway ALRAZEEN hosed up.

Today should be a similar day, one strong bet on some strong info. Single and small double with the Meydan play.

17.15 ALHATTAN

Simply following the info on this one. Bougheys yard can never keep a secret and always pull the trigger too early - 365 went from 2/1 into 4/9 in seconds. Amateurs. It’s drifted to 10/11 now, which is short for a debutant but apparently she just wins.
