After a good day yesterday, were heading in to day 2 of Doncaster’s St Leger meeting hard on the bridle and full of confidence.
Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
BANKER OF THE WEEK
Well, you can’t say that we weren’t confident about yesterday.
Banker of the day and feature horse of our most precise preview verdict ever, DESERT FLOWER, bolts up.
The double is on.

DESERT FLOWER justified her strong market position by remaining unbeaten yesterday and winning the Group 2 May Hill Stakes impressively, and by doing so, pushing herself into 12/1 for next year’s 1000 Guineas.
When you look at the scorecard and see that she only won by a length and a half, it would perhaps be easy to think she was less impressive than what was expected of her, however, we think there are more positives to focus on.
Very impressive!
Desert Flower makes it three from three, showcasing an electric turn of foot to land the @Betfred May Hill Stakes at @DoncasterRaces for @WilliamBuickX and @godolphin...

Firstly, she was abundantly keen under William Buick while simultaneously having no cover, so we feel her performance can be upgraded on that alone.
Furthermore, she showed no real chance of being overtaken once she got to the front despite the slingshot run of JANUARY down the outside.
The ground was also not as quick as many expected and it was hard to pass horses all day, so the fact that she glided past three horses at the two-furling pole is commendable.
We’re not saying that she is a Classic winner in waiting, but she is now off to the Fillies’ Mile and is priced at 4/1 which, at this time seems fair.
JANUARY was supported before the off and she ran as if this was the case, so that’s a nice guide as well.
