Equinties - St Leger day 2

Equinties

Gm Equinauts

There are multiple BGP grads out today who have done so well for us in the past.

COLTRANE you all know. He’s first up and returns to defend his title. We love this lad and always back him.

Donny’s next race see’s RHYTHMIC INTENT aka Larry back out in the race we backed him in in ‘21. He hasn’t won since but we always thought a lot of him. He’s 7yo now which is fine, especially for big stayers so needs to show everyone he’s still got it.

Last but certainly not least is our old mate and the little horse who put us on the map, OCEAN WIND aka Dave.

This season has been his comeback after a bad injury, with the aim see if he’s still got it but more so to give his owners some fun days out.

Boy was he a machine before he got injured landing us some monstrous gambles and nearly beating STRADIVARIUS in the Sagaro. His race today is the weakest he’s run in for years but we’re not quite sure he’s still the same. Could be one last hurrah for Dave today, we don’t know but we do know the roof will blow off if he wins.

Good luck to COLTRANE, RHYTHMIC INTENT and DAVE.

Now, let’s dive in.

You’ve all heard of Viagra. The one time, pump and dump pill. Lasts what - 30 minutes? Rubbish.

For the first time ever, Cialis is available without prescription. And boy it’s an absolute game changer.

Approved for medical use only in 2003, the French call it ‘le weekend’ because basically this thing lasts in your system for 3 day.

Boner’s on demand, for 3 three days!

Perfect for a weekend away when you know you’re going to need a little help.

Try it through UK MEDS, use discount code EQUINTIES10 and thank us later.

p.s none of this is medical advice but we’ve tried it…

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

HARDY GIRLS

Day one of the St Leger meeting delivered an enjoyable day of action whilst also revealing some very hardy fillies.

At the top of the that list is SUMO SAM in the Group 2 Park Hill Fillies’ Stakes who proved her Goodwood win wasn’t a fluke.

Rossa Ryan delivered the Nathaniel three-year-old to perfection from the front as she saw off ONE EVENING and LMAY to win by over a length.

And in fairness to her, she has the form in the book. She began this season with a good fourth to RUNNING LION in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes before a decent third behind AL ASIFAH at Goodwood in June.

35 minutes before that, DARNATION showed her class in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes as Karl Burke’s well-backed two-year-old bolted up under Clifford Lee.

The win was another high-profile success for her sire, TOO DARN HOT, who has 120 two-year-olds and 124 yearlings, so breeders clearly like the stock they have seen. With 110 registered foals on the ground, he could see his fee rise from £40,000 to £50,000 if his popularity continues.

As for DARNATION, this win completed a good hat-trick, all of which on soft ground - it’ll be interesting to see if connections continue to plan her runs around slow ground if they feel she needs that.

LEGER FESTIVAL DAY 2

Another tough day of racing today, if you’re your own risk of betting on every race be sure to set up your stable and join the BGP league with code QHZ36G. Link below:

14.25 GROUP 2 FLYING CHILDERS STAKES

They’re coming for KYLIAN again lol. 6’s into 3’s. The last twice he’s gone off strong fave and failed to deliver, punters are chasing. Hard.

He’s a solid yard stick as always runs his race having won twice and placed 3 times o/o 6 runs to date but he’s had enough chances and we don’t think the softer going is that ideal for him. That said, Burke is on fire and money suggests he has KYLIAN right today.

BIG EVS is next in the market at 7/2. He won at Royal Ascot over the distance and then we backed him when he won at Glorious Goodwood beating KYLIAN on soft ground.

Last seen ran down the field in the Nunthorpe but he’s not to be written off on one run, he’s back in his own age group today and we’re sure he’d be a lot shorter if they had come here rather than go to York in between.

INQUISITIVELY by first season TEN SOVEREIGNS was placed 3rd behind BIG EVS on his second start at Royal Ascot. He got his nose in front nto at York beating a good field. Clearly going the right way but has only raced on good to firm so far. We’re struggling to work out why he’s been selling off all morning. Maybe ground?

FLORA OF BERMUDA won at Glorious Goodwood on soft, beating JUNIPER BERRIES who has since won a competitive Gr3. She was disappointing at York nto and it won’t be easy to bounce back against the boys.

FRANCIS MEYNELL by first season sire BLUE POINT has only had the one start but it was impressive under hands and heels. The form does look questionable though, especially for this level. Michael O’Callaghan clearly likes him though.

Ground has gone against ZOULU CHIEF but he’s a monster. If this was quick he’d be a bet.

The ground has gone for VALIANT FORCE too, he didn’t go on the very soft lto at Deauville. MALC ran a blinder at Royal Ascot to come second to VALIANT FORCE but then ran poorly on his next start at Newmarket. Needs to bounce back and the soft going isn’t likely to suit.

TOCA MADERA is a good solid horse and the step down in trip could suit, FOOL’S GOLD and the once raced ROSARIO need big improvements.

Verdict: BIG EVS holds a couple of these on form and he’ll go on the ground. His run at Goodwood was big on soft ground and that could have been the reason he ran below par at York. He can bounce back today and at 7/2 is an incredibly dirty ew. The main danger is the drifter of the day INQUISITIVELY.

15.00 GROUP 2 DONCASTER CUP STAKES

Just the five are declared for this year’s Doncaster Cup, a number indicative of the weak nature of the staying division.

But we don’t care, less horses for our lad to beat and defend his title.

COLTRANE is the class act in the field for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy who has already won the Lonsdale Cup, finished second in the Gold Cup, and placed in the Group 1 Goodwood Cup.

He is the same rating (117) as the returning TRUESHAN and has to give away three pounds to him, but he is in much better form than his rival and is the obvious fave.

As for TRUESHAN, he is having his first run since a disappointing fourth in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes - when beaten by COLTRANE - and gets his preferred soft ground today. But there are some MASSIVE question marks over this horses. Sent off the 2/9 favourite for last year’s renewal of the contest when beaten by COLTRANE and his current form makes him hard to back.

Stepping into the deep end for the first time is SWEET WILLIAM following his second in the Ebor lto. He loves soft ground and that Ebor form usually stands up - for example, CAIUS CHORISTER (6th) has since finished second in the Old Borough Cup - so he is an interesting prospect in Stakes company.

At 9/1, Ballydoyle stalwart BROOME is set to have his first start of soft ground since his eighth in the Arc last season. He is 4/10 in races with soft officially in the description, so the ground might be fine for him but his pedigree suggests he’s better on quick. He’s a very classy horse on his day and often plays ‘catch me if you can’ out in front. Hoping he set’s it up nicely for COLTRANE to get a tow.

Completing the field is THE GRAND VISIR who has slightly lost his way over the last few seasons. Officially rated 93, he needs to find a few pounds to get close.

Verdict: CHOO-CHOO

YOUNG BLOOD

13.50 LISTED FLYING SCOTSMAN STAKES

This market is headed by WAR ROOMS for Owen Burrow’s who looked impressive on debut:

He got the job done easily enough over course and distance and Owen Burrow’s has entered him for the Group 1 Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster. Safe to say Owen has targeted the track for this lad!

Another with that Group 1 Futurity entry is DANCING GEMINI for Roger Teal. He’s by CAMELOT and out of a wining miler - soft going shouldn’t be a problem.

Roger Teal hasn’t hidden the fact he loves this horse and we know he’s pretty good. Granted Roger hasn’t got much in his yard atm but nothing can live with this lad at home, he’s their little monster. Can he deliver and put Roger back on the map?

WARM SPELL was a winner for us lto. He’s a good one by MEHMAS but might get stuck in the mud today an the form from his Newbury win is a little mixed.

BATTLE CRY is by super sire NO NAY NEVER and out of a dam who loved a long trip. That stamina in the blood will certainly help today making him a key player in the slop.

LOCAL HERO is by PHOENIX OF SPAIN who has had a good start to his career as a daddy. LOCAL HERO won a weak Kempton maiden but he couldn’t have done it any easier. Big drifter.

GUSHING GOLD is one of the more exposed horses in the field. By BLUE POINT who sits top of the new sire’s table, they’re versatile on ground so today’s ground shouldn’t be a problem. Girl against the boys though, will be a tough ask.

KINGDOM OF RICHES looked good beating COOL DIVIDEND lto. The latter was well-touted before the race but has been very disappointing thus far making the form slightly questionable. Beckett’s colt will need to seriously raise his game to be in the reckoning and he doesn’t lift his feet up much meaning he might not go in today’s ground.

The other two in the field ROYA ZABEEL and ICE MAX have too much to find.

Verdict: WAR ROOMS admittedly looked nice on debut and is most certainly the horse they all have to beat but he’s only had one run and looked quite green lto. DANCING GEMINI has had three runs so has good experience under his belt. Roger knows what a good horse looks like and if DANCING GEMINI gives him butterflies in his tummy (he said that) then that’s good enough for us to play and take on the hot fave. We took 10’s yesterday, 6’s is still an ew play. He should be an ew to nothing. The ridiculously speccy play is the WAR ROOMS x DANCING GEMINI rev fc paying 10’s and 16’s. We’ll have a few quid on that.

STATS OF THE DAY

Big winner for this section in MARLAY PARK, only one today:

DEVIL’S ANGEL travels a long way for the 14.40 at Sandown. O’Keefe lands 1 in 4 when travelling this far and has a 60% sr in these races at Sandown.

RISK ON

We’ll play the above horses in ‘verdict’ and the TOTE Fantasy plus:

13.15 CIRCE

At 3’s she’s a value play given her form. Okay she’s taking on loads of unraced fillies (including the half sis to HOLLOWAY BOY) and could bump into a monster but that Sandown race was strong so they’ll have to be very good first time out to beat this girl, especially if she’s improved.

15.20 WONDERWALL

Big step up on handicap debut and should be the best stayer in the race. Owners backing it.
