Gm. Can’t believe I forget to set the alarm clock for #VAUBANTIME but apparently I’m not too late to still see him finish?

We didn’t back him, and didn’t really have a strong view, but nevertheless, VAUBAN not winning the Melbourne Cup at 4am this morning was actually quite sad news to wake up because for the first time ever, Racing X was actually united.
100/1, 33/1, even 8’s looked good before the offer, Racing X was awash with ante-post bet slips for VAUBAN. You can just imagine the thousands of optimistic racing fans setting their alarm clocks for 3.59am, like giddy children before Christmas day.
Alas, hearts were broken before breakfast:
What a performance! It's Lexus Melbourne Cup Glory for Without A Fight and Mark Zahra!

VAUBAN was never travelling so we assume something was up because even if the race was harder than it first appeared on paper, at his best he shouldn’t have finished that far back.
It’s back to the drawing board for VAUBAN, big Willie and Rich Ricci, but let’s hope the flat machine can get back on track this season.

HEADLINE ROUND UP
CODY DORMAN
Five years ago, a family won a visit to Darley America where the stud manager picked a foal for an ill child to see. He picked a quiet one who wouldn’t spook at the wheel chair of which Cody Dorman was bound.
The foal put his head on the boy and stayed with him, an instant connection.
Godolphin named the horse CODY’S WISH and the boy would follow his journey through to the very last race.
Yesterday, sad news emerged that Cody Dorman passed away after a fatal medical episode, moments after witnessing the immense highs of CODY’S WISH winning his last race at the Breeders Cup.
You couldn’t write a more heart breaking story.
The 17-year-old suffered from a rare genetic disease called Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome from birth.
Although CODY’S WISH has stopped racing, his, and Cody Dorman’s, legacy will continue on with CODY’S WISH set to go off to stud.
Rest in peace, Cody Dorman.
WHO’S THE DADDY!?
FRANKEL is now standing for £350,000 and it’s totally worth it. Just this year alone, FRANKEL has 6 sons off to stud; MOSTAHDAF, ONESTO, CHALDEAN, WESTOVER, ADAYAR and TRIPLE TIME. His other son at stud, CRACKSMAN, made the headlines this year as he sired the French Derby and Arc winner ACE IMPACT ffs.
FRANKEL has sired 11 Group 1 winners and he’ll have plenty of amo in Australia before the year is out. He has most recently sired his first Breeders Cup winner in INSPIRAL, who has notched up 6 Group 1 victories and stays in training next year (probably a good ante post bet for the Queen Anne), SOUL SISTER and CHALDEAN were Classic winners this year both ridden by Dettori, JANNAH ROSE won the Prix Saint Alary for the growing Al Shira’aa Farms, YLANG YLANG looks his most exciting 2 year old filly after she won the Fillies Mile, COURAGE MON AMI won the Gold Cup and looks one of the most exciting stayers in training, along with stablemate ARREST who should make up into a top notch Cup horse.
NASHWA proved how tough FRANKEL’s stock are, she has won the Falmouth Stakes this year but has been placed in 3 other group 1s, and stays in training. The Gosdens love these FRANKEL’s; NASHWA, INSPIRAL, COURAGE MON AMI, SOUL SISTER and ARREST.
FRANKEL and DUBAWI seem to be syncing well, and why shouldn’t they? After all, GALILEO and DUBAWI have nicked well, and actually most of GALILEO’s sons (and his brother SEA THE STARS) all mate well with Darley’s lynchpin. Too many to name, but Melbourne Cup winner WITHOUT A FIGHT has just enhanced the GALILEO line through TEOFILO with DUBAWI as the broodmare sire.
An updated pedigree for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's homebred Without A Fight. The son of Teofilo ran on well to land the Lexus #MelbourneCup@FlemingtonVRC - this a little over two weeks after he won the Caulfield Cup. The gelding is out of Group winner Khor Sheed.

At the yearling sales FRANKEL’s average at Book 1 at Tattersalls was just shy of 618,000gns. In the top 10 lots, FRANKEL sired 4, 3 more than his nearest rivals DUBAWI, LOOE DE VEGA, KINGMAN and WOOTTON BASSETT. FRANKEL’s two most expensive lots were a colt and filly going to Coolmore and Shadwell. In Ireland, FRANKEL sired the €1.85million sale topper brought by Coolmore, a colt closely related to stable buddies KINGMAN and OASIS DREAM.

He guided the Cian Collins-trained FIVEONEFIVE to success at odds of 8/15 in order to compete the monumental feat. “It took a lot of hard work, a lot of years, riding at different places and different jobs,” O’Regan said. “I was only back from injury on Sunday after 14 weeks off. My boys and my wife are at home watching so it’s great.
“A lot of people supported me last year to help me get it and it didn’t quite work out –
Gordon Elliott, Cian again, different trainers all helped out. Today was a lucky day I had a good feeling about and I’m delighted.”
Bravo, Denis. Well done!
TODAY’S BEST STATS
Only one stat today:
The Williams family targets the 12.12, albeit without bagging the W (last year, poor old Noonan was chucked off Jane’s at the first, her husband Nick sent INTERNE DE SIVOLA the year before who finished placed at a price behind two nice horses and before that, in ‘19 Nick’s GALAHAD QUEST was looking like he’d place before tiring late and pecking after a hurdle). EXCELERO goes for them today. Jane lands 1 in 3 in hurdles races at track, a stat boosted in juvenile company.
RISK ON
We think this horse is better than he’s displayed so far and we’re hoping he is one to catch fresh:
Backing what I think could turn into a cliff horse if he doesn’t win today.
