Equinties - Skelton coup!

Equinties

Gm, Equinauts

Dan Skelton landed a 4x timer yesterday and isn’t even featured in today’s Racing Post lol.

COUMEENOOLE, PALAMON, and TYSON landed a treble for the Blind Squirrels partnership, with the well-executed plot SERVICE MINIMUM adding a large dose of salt to the bookies’ wounds.

A lot of punters on Racing X appeared to jump on the gamble too, flaunting slips in bookmakers’ faces, who could only applaud and acknowledge their losses.

It’s about time punters had a proper one over on them.

We’ve seen quite a few people take umbrage at Dan’s tactics, with some even calling him a cheat—but let’s add some perspective. The horses were presented healthy, fit, and running under ideal conditions. Getting one horse to win a race is difficult; four on the same day? Simply masterful.

Dan doesn’t necessarily “stop” horses, as many are quick to shout. Instead, he’s clever in placing them in conditions he knows won’t suit—whether that’s over a trip that’s too short or on ground they won’t appreciate. He then unleashes them off a winning mark in conditions he knows will get the best out of them.

It’s expert training and sublime placing, reflecting his roots in a family who know horses inside and out

Well player, Dan.

Let’s dive in.

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

🏁TOWCESTER

Towcester are getting quite active on their socials and it’s all a bit exciting. Okay, so their post on X this morning launching their inaugural Towcester Chicken Racing Championship is obvs an Aprils Fools….

But they have been putting out signals to suggest they’re prepping for a return to horse racing via a Tiktok account of all places.

The historic venue, which last hosted racing in ‘18 before shutting due to financial difficulties, has been fairly open about their making steady improvements under new management. While greyhound racing has kept the site active in recent years, attention is now turning back to its equestrian roots!

Initial plans focus on reintroducing horses to the track for gallops and schooling sessions. This step is seen as a way to demonstrate the quality of the refurbished surface and rebuild confidence among trainers. Reports suggest that horses could return to the track as soon as this summer.

Although a full return to competitive racing is by no means guaranteed, discussions have begun with relevant authorities about what role Towcester might play going forward. One possible pathway is to establish the venue as a specialist training and schooling centre before considering race fixtures.

The revival effort comes at a time when parts of the racing industry are facing uncertainty, making the potential reopening of a historic track particularly significant. For many fans, even the sight of horses back on the gallops would mark an important step toward restoring a much-missed racecourse.

Well done, Towcester.

🍌BANANA’S!

Boy, oh boy was yesterday an emotional rollercoaster.

At about 11.15 news came out that both ALBERT EINSTEIN and GSTAAD had been scratched from the Guineas. A gut punch we were half expecting given Aidan’s comments Saturday about him thinking his super heavyweight was more a sprinter, but we were still a little surprised nonetheless, disappointed ‘the Lads’ weren’t willing to roll the dice in the Guineas. We didn’t care about GSTAAD and simply assumed they thought that he too was too quick for the Newmarket mile.

Then, almost as if Aprils Fool’s came a day early, the next headline:

The memes in the aftermath have been exceptional:

The BHA have since released a statement clarifying that if Coolmore wish to run their horses in the Guineas, they’ll need to be supplemented now. Bookmakers have reintroduced them into the market.

No matter how much money they have, it would be bullish to see ‘the Lad’s’ cough up the cash to run ALBERT EINSTEIN.

All is not lost, yet!
