HEADLINE ROUNDUP

💫 SIR GINO

The racing world was abruptly sent into mourning yesterday by the tragic death of SIR GINO, a horse genuinely considered as one to be potentially one of the greatest ever.

The 6yo, trained by Nicky Henderson, was euthanised after suffering severe infections that developed during his recovery from a fractured pelvis sustained at Cheltenham in January. The same type of infection that hospitalised him last year. What initially looked like a serious but manageable injury took a lethal turn when complications set in, with what has been described as a “superbug” ultimately proving impossible to overcome despite the best care at Donningtons.

SIR GINO’s passing is all the more heartbreaking given the incredible performances he put in on track. Unbeaten in his first seven completed starts, he had already captured multiple Grade 1’s but his chase debut was the performance that people will remember - absolute aeroplane - marking him out as a future horse every one would have to beat.

He had been a leading contender for the Champion Hurdle when CONSTITUTION HILL was pulled out the Festival. Nicky’s effectively lost two of the best ever from his team in one sad season. Such a cruel thing to happen.

SIR GINO was seen by many as a potential successor to the very best in the sport, ever, and as such serves a horrendous sense of loss.

Tributes have poured in from across racing, reflecting not just his brilliance but his character and the affection in which he was held.

RIP CHAMP. Urgh.

🐎CONSTITUTION HILL

Whether he’s running or not, CONSTITUTION HILL is the talk of the town.

The former Champion Hurdle superstar, and we mean superstar, whose career was sadly derailed by a bizarre sudden inability to jump, was once hailed as a generational talent over hurdles.

It’s so so sad we’ll never get to see him over hurdles again, but at least we can still enjoy him on the flat. Plus, he doesn’t know any different and let us tell you something - CONSTITUTION HILL will enjoy himself MUCH better on that long Goodwood straight with nothing in front of him, than Cheltenham with all those horrible white hurdles in the way.

The (right) decision by connections to move him to the flat has already paid off in style. His debut at Southwell was nothing short of electric, winning by a wide margin and immediately reigniting excitement around what he might achieve in this new discipline.

Tonight at Kempton, he steps out for his second flat run in a 1m4f novice contest under the floodlights, scheduled for 19.30. The race is less about prize money and more about progression—he needs experience and a handicap mark if he’s to target bigger prizes later in the season. There’s huge anticipation, not just because of his reputation but because early signs suggest he could be just as dominant on the flat as he was over hurdles.

With top jockey Ryan Moore booked to ride and bookmakers making him a very short-priced favourite, and punters are forced to look at the distance markets.

PUSH HIM OUT, RYAN!

💰WORLD POOL

Ya’ll know our opinion on the main problem with this sport and the fact racing sold it’s arse to the bookies such a long time ago now, the damage done is almost irreversible.

Sorry but you’re an idiot if you think otherwise. Just look at France, Australia and Japan who have a beautiful betting ecosystem which appropriately funds the sport and punters can get on.

Enter the World Pool.

So, why is this big news?

Well, depending on turnover, the HKJC pay the host racecourse anywhere between £600k and £800k which is the sole reason why every race at York’s Ebor meeting is worth £100k+ and why EVERY race run there over the season is worth at least £20k.

The total paid to UK and Irish racecourses by World Pool up to the end of 2025 since it started in 2019 is £65m.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW!?

You can access the World Pool via the Tote:

Deep liquidity, unrestricted stakes and almost always better pricing. Don’t believe us?

Take the Brocklesby as a case in point.

Number of runners where Tote win divi beat SP (obviously SP guarantee covers any with a shortfall)

In 2025, 10 of the 17 runners in the Brocklesby went off bigger on the Tote than SP, 9 of 15 in 2024, 11 of 16 in 2023 and more than half the field in 2022.

The Tote also guarantee SP as minimum to cover a shortfall for when say, an Amo shortie wins it at tight odds.

We will continue to support this product as it’s better for the punter and better for racing.
