This time, the machine saw THE LION IN WINTER take a walk in the ante-post market for the Epsom Derby, one week away from the race itself.

This may seem obvious, but there has to be an update about the horse soon, and for all you who are sitting on pretty ante-post slips, this soon-to-be-incoming update will not be in your best interests.

We are literally days on from Aidan O’Brien’s comments in the Racing Post suggesting that Ryan Moore will find it hard to ditch DELACROIX around Tattenham Corner, and the shortening of his odds in the markets further suggests this.

Then there’s THE LION IN WINTER himself. Ever since he ran in the Dante, we’ve been banging the drum about him being a speedy horse with a short stride, so how is he supposed to step up to 1m4f around Epsom with ease?

Even if the horse does go to Epsom, this whole prep would have to be a huge black mark over the horse’s credentials, but in all honesty, the chances of him coming over the Irish Sea next week look bleak.
