Equinties - Cheltenham Tuesday

Equinties

Gm, Equinauts

We’re officially inside the final weekend before Cheltenham. The last Saturday to make it count for next week the Cheltenham roar returns, jumps fans hold their Guinness aloft, and bookies start sweating through their blazers.

Today’s racing feels a little bit like the calm before the storm — Sandown’s Imperial Cup, a Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton, and enough handicaps to fry the brain of even the most hardened punter.

Let’s dive in.

P.S We’re trying a new format for the newsletter today using a bit of AI magic, please give us your feedback and let us know what you think. If it looks sh*t we’ll go back to normal.

PLAY THE TOTE

TOTE FREEBIE 🎁

Remember the Tote Fantasy leagues we used to run as a way to cage the chimp every weekend?

Well… apparently the Tote remembers too.

We’ve just had a message from them saying everyone who ever played in our league will be getting a FREE £1 Placepot to use during the Cheltenham Festival.

Why?

No official explanation… but we’re assuming it’s because our league was the biggest and best one going week after week.
(Probably.)

THE FREE BET 💰

If you’re an existing Tote customer, you’ll receive:

£1 FREE Placepot
• Usable on any day of the Cheltenham Festival
• Available from 16:00 on Monday 9th March

And here’s the reason you should use it — the daily Placepot pool is expected to hit around £1,000,000 across the week.

So yes… technically a free swing at a seven-figure pool.

NOT A TOTE CUSTOMER?

You can still jump in before the Festival.

New customers currently get:

Bet £10 → Get £40 in Tote Credit

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

GOLD CUP BOMB 💣

The biggest story this morning is a brutal one — GALOPIN DES CHAMPS will miss Cheltenham.

Yes, the three time Cheltenham Festival winner (should have been four) including two-time Gold Cup hero GALOPIN DES CHAMPS has been ruled out of next Friday after a sudden setback in training.

Trainer Willie Mullins confirmed the horse “wasn’t right” after work on Friday morning, and connections have pulled the plug on all spring targets.

The early market reaction has GAELIC WARRIOR moving into favouritism, with JANGO BAIE and THE JUKEBOX MAN also shortening rapidly.

Regardless of whether punters were backing GDC or not, they’d have been cheering him home like they had the lot on. We will never forget the deafening silence when he got beat last year.

He genuinely is one of the very best horses jumps racing has ever had.

Just look at his chase debut… what a beast:

The Cheltenham Festival thrives on superstar narratives. Horses like KAUTO, BEST MATE, CONSTITUTION HILL — the big names that even less than casual fans know, are the reasons people turn up. When one drops out days before the tapes even go up, racing really misses them.

RANDOM RACING FACT OF THE DAY 🧠

Today at Wolverhampton isn’t just horses.

For the first time in Britain, a single fixture will stage both horse racing and greyhound racing on the same day at Dunstall Park.

Afternoon horses.
Evening greyhounds.

We’re sure there is a pub question there some where.

ARC have essentially built a full gambling ecosystem in one venue — which from a commercial standpoint is… actually pretty clever.

Whether the purists like it is another question entirely.
