A big thank you to the Newbury grounds staff who managed to keep the show going Saturday. It was a brilliant two days of racing, made all the better with Saturdays NAP landing:

As we did last week, we will continue to raise awareness of our friends charity efforts to help Graham Lee.

Please donate £5 by texting Graham to 70970 or share this auction with as many people as you can.

Thank you.

Let’s dive in.

Don’t forget: £500 JOHN LEWIS GIFT VOUCHER WINNER ANNOUNCED WEDNESDAY. It’s not too late to enter, subscribe to the weekender at the bottom of this newsletter today.

You’ve all heard of Viagra. The one time, pump and dump pill. Lasts what - 30 minutes? Rubbish.

For the first time ever, Cialis is available without prescription. And boy it’s an absolute game changer.

Approved for medical use only in 2003, the French call it ‘le weekend’ because basically this thing lasts in your system for 3 day.

Boner’s on demand, for 3 three days!

Perfect for a weekend away when you know you’re going to need a little help.

Try it through UK MEDS, use discount code EQUINTIES10 and thank us later.

p.s none of this is medical advice but we’ve tried it…

HEADLINE ROUND UP

FAIRYHOUSE’S GIANT SLAYER

TEAHUPOO seems to be making a name for himself in Irish racing as Gordon’s Giant Slayer. He beat the mighty HONEYSUCKLE last year and downed Ballymore victor IMPAIRE ET PASSE in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle 12 months later.

There was no fluke in this performance as IMPAIRE ET PASSE was in a solid position throughout, travelled better on the eye, and jumped the last in front, but the reigning champion found more for pressure and won going away.

It was a monumental effort from Gordon Elliott to get him to beat a good horse like IMPAIRE ET PASSE fto, though he did spoil the mood slightly by saying he may go straight to the Stayers’ Hurdle.

After the success, he was moved in to 7/2 favouritism for the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle, though people on Racing X were warned by Rob Acheson of Robcour when he was a tasty 12/1 earlier this season.

Elsewhere at Fairyhouse on Sunday, the two Grade 1 novice contests through up a few surprises thanks to I AM MAXIMUS’ victory in the Drinmore and FARREN GLORY’s success in the Royal Bond.

The latter beat IRISH PANTHER by nine lengths lto who was then beaten 14 lengths by Willie Mullins’ DADDY LONG LEGS, which begs the question of how smart could Mullins’ exciting novice be?

GRAND NATIONAL POINTERS

Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan landed a dream success in the Coral Gold Cup on Saturday as DATSALRIGHTGINO put in a career best effort to win the £250,000 contest. He is unexposed over a staying trip and will likely head back in Graded company nto, so the ceiling of his ability looks to be quite tall.

As for the field in behind, John McConnell has Grand National aspirations for MAHLER MISSION who ran a stormer despite pulling both of his front shoes off.

Furthermore, the third, MONBEG GENUIS, put in a good effort on faster than ideal ground and he could head to the Welsh Grand National – a race he is 7/1 for – as conditions would likely suit. JJ’s 7yo may also be another type for the Grand National with the trainer bolding stating: "The National is his race."

A RACE TO FOLLOW?

Looking back to Fairyhouse on Saturday, the opening contest saw CORBETTS CROSS return to the winners’ enclosure for Emmet Mullins and Mark Walsh.

Sent off a well-backed 2/1, he got the better of THREE CARD BRAG in the final half-a-furlong and showed a good turn of foot while doing so.

Away from the front two, the first four home all look like decent animals – including the third, MONTY’S STAR, who sat prominent throughout and would benefit from a step up in trip – so with a view to the future, this race could turn into a very hot contest in the form books.

Earlier on the card, FIREFOX delivered a killer blow to Racing X as he swept BALLYBURN aside to win the two-mile maiden hurdle by two-and-a-half lengths.

BALLYBURN will come on for the run, but the winner looked classy and jumped his hurdles with a nice action – bookies cut him to 10/1 for the Supreme. More:
