Equinties

Gm Equinauts

We’ve quite enjoyed this flat season as we know it’s not over yet, we still have Champions day and the Breeders Cup to go, but the Arc followed by the Tattersalls Yearling Sales is often the signal that the flat circus is soon to be all over.

Don’t forget, to celebrate the end of a successful flat season and to thank those supporting this newsletter, we will be sending two people to Vegas!

All you have to do is be a subscriber to the weekender edition of the newsletter and we will announce the winner on Breeders Cup Saturday.

More… there is a free newsletter syndicate being launched for weekend subscribers too, so lots to get excited over.

Now, let’s dive in.

You’ve all heard of Viagra. The one time, pump and dump pill. Lasts what - 30 minutes? Rubbish.

For the first time ever, Cialis is available without prescription. And boy it’s an absolute game changer.

Approved for medical use only in 2003, the French call it ‘le weekend’ because basically this thing lasts in your system for 3 day.

Boner’s on demand, for 3 three days! Perfect for a weekend away when you know you’re going to need a little help.

Try it through UK MEDS, use discount code EQUINTIES10 and thank us later.

p.s none of this is medical advice but we’ve tried it…

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

MCMANUS’ HIGHS AND LOWS

Yesterday at Galway was a mixed day for the green and gold of JP McManus as he found himself in the winners’ enclosure with PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS who trotted up easily and impressed racing X whilst doing so.

The six-year-old scored at the Dublin Racing Festival over three miles last season off a mark of 124 over hurdles and has made a seamless transition to fences after 241 days off; there will be plenty to come for him and could even be a Graded horse in time, potentially after a big handicap pot?

But it wasn’t all roses and rainbows for McManus, his big summer purchase from Paul Byrne, FERONILY, lost on seasonal debut at a short 2/1 on.

The six-year-old won the Grade 1 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase on his last start over fences at Punchestown and coming into yesterday’s run he was considered an interesting outsider for the Gold Cup, however, fans of his wouldn’t have been too happy with the run. Jockey Mark Walsh said that he clipped into the heels of FRONTAL ASSAULT which didn’t help him, but being beaten by five lengths by the 128-rated MY DESIGN isn’t great even if he will come on for the run.

OIL MONEY

When Sheikh Mo turned up to the sales yesterday morning, people speculated how big a day it would be for Godolphin. Would their sub-par season put them off buying or force them to double down? There were a few nervous breeders hoping it would be the latter as don’t forget, it’s their oil money propping up the market… if old Sheikhy Mo doesn’t dig deep, the market will crash.

The anticipated sweating by sellers was over by Lot 5 when a SEA THE STARS filly, went through the famous sales ring for 575,000gns. The fire works had started.

The full-sister to SEA SILK ROAD, a now Group 1-winning mare after her victory in Saturday’s Prix de Royallieu, was the first of 10 purchases for Godolphin on Day 1 of the October Yearling Sale, a crop of yearlings that cost the boys in blue 6,665,000gns in total.

Top Lot was Lot 151, a GHAIYYATH colt out of TICKLED PINK.

The 1,050,000 half-brother to VICTORIA ROAD, Aidan O’Brien’s Group 1-winning three-year-old, is from the first crop of GHAIYYATH, a four-time Group 1 winner for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby, there will be plenty of intrigue in how he does when he hits the track.

At just 50,000gns cheaper, the first yearling of the sale to fetch a million was a rather fitting one as the final foal out of SHASTYE, the Newsells Park broodmare who foaled the likes of JAPAN, MOGUL, and SIR ISAAC NEWTON, also went the way of Sheikhy Mo.

By DUBAWI, this is the first progeny of SHASTYE that Godolphin have owned as previously the likes of Ballydoyle and Qatar Racing nabbed the others.

BIG TARGETS

And finally, the end-of-season target for the horse we’ve backed all the way has been revealed by connections as Michael Appleby’s two-year-old BIG EVS will head to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.

The two-time Group-level and Royal Ascot winner bolted up at Doncaster lto in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes and Micael Appleby confirmed yesterday that he will be heading to Santa Anita at the start of November.

While on the topic of targets, although options were still open at the time of publishing yesterday’s newsletter, connections have decided to call stumps on VANDEEK’s season as the two-time Group 1-winning two-year-old will be campaigned with the Commonwealth Cup in mind rather than the 2000 Guineas.

STATS OF THE DAY

No stats today.

RISK ON

16.05 OLIVERS TRAVELS

Got him better than ever and back up in trip should take all the beating at 7/2.

16.42 CLUB MANAGER & BUXLOW BOY

Small and speccy rev fc here on two slop lovers. 24 & 27’s either way.

17.30 URESHII

A half to SENSE OF DUTY, by new rocket sire TOO DARN HOT. He’s supposed to be very nice for Opulence Thoroughbreds who we are close to. Most of Balding’s come on for the run but he shouldn’t need it today. 5/2.

19.00 DECEIVER

Backed this lad lto when he basically pulled up. Something obviously not right, back to normal now. A tight race but he’s good and could prove well handicapped if he doesn’t need the run. 12/1 ew.
