HEADLINE ROUNDUP

🐎BANBRIDGE

The Grand National isn’t far off now, two weekends time to be exact but we’ll be honest, we only really write about it because it’s tradition.

We don’t really get excited about it, mainly because we don’t properly punt it—aside from a few exotics on the Tote to try and land a lotto-style play.

But we know the nation still loves it, and it’s the time of year for fun sweepstakes. We can get on board with that because you know what? That’s what it’s all about sometimes.

We still don’t know exactly who is going to turn up, but the move to 72-hour declarations will give us more time to study the race, and as usual, we will publish a full runner-by-runner guide.

An interesting nod of intention to run has come from Joseph O’Brien for BANBRIDGE.

Every one knows now that while the BHA try to find the balance between spectacle and safety the course is getting easier and easier to get round (and the race is now genuinely safer rather than simply pandering to the anti-racing lot) and that means trainers aren’t worried to chuck their genuine Grade 1 horses into the mix.

BANBRIDGE is one of those. A Cheltenham winner, a King George winner, BANBRIDGE is a monster on his day and Joseph will swap the cotton wool for legs wraps as he lines up for the worlds most famous and chaotic handicap on the 11th.

On good ground, and trusting he stays, surely he has to be added to the exotics!? In last years Grand National, the first three horses were top rated… BANBRIDGE is second top this year just a pound behind the fave I AM MAXIMUS.

🚀OH DONNY!

Every year the Brocklesby is the signal the flat is PROPERLY back. We have the best record known to punting finding the winner of it:

Amo have won two of the last four renewals of the race and currently have THREE in the line up, all trained by the 2yo maestro Robson Aguiar. They’ll know who wins.

As a nice touch, Donny have named named this years race in remembrance of the wining most trainer of the race, Brocklesby Bill Turner. His daughter Kathy also runs three in the race.

On the day, we will preview the race, highlighting all the best pedigrees and try find the winner. Don’t miss us this flat season!
