Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
JUDDMONTE TARGETS
Juddmonte’s European racing manager Barry Mahon gave a positive update on a couple of their John and Thady Gosden trained inmates this week.
Last years St Leger second ARREST (FRANKEL) will make his seasonal reappearance at our home track Newbury for the John Porter Stakes.

Having bolted up in the Chester Vase, he went of favourite for the Derby but found the ground way too lively for his exaggerated action. His second in the worlds oldest classic, the St Leger, behind a very good CONTINUOUS should mean he will be a force in the top middle-distance events which John and Thady Gosden will be licking their lips over.
LAUREL was the other horse who was given a positive mention by Mahon. She was last seen down the field in Newbury’s Group 1 Lockinge but was beaten just once in 4 starts before that.
“LAUREL is back in training and John and Thady are happy with her.. she’s just having a slow preparation with a view to getting her to Royal Ascot later in the year”.
OISIN IS BACK
Oisin Murphy returns to the saddle today having spent a period on the side lines through suspension.
Oisin, who hasn’t ridden since March 10th, has made it clear he is not going for the Championship title this year and won’t turn down big rides abroad. When interviewed by the Racing Post Oisin said: “Last year I went to America and Australia and that could be the case again…I won’t be turning Group and Grade 1s overseas for the jockeys’ championship”
Oisin winning the 1000 Guineas in India:

“You lost everything at Cheltenham and actually believed Langer Dan bled, wtf do you mean you’re taking the horses full time?”

YOUNG BLOOD
17.20 TAUNTON
OAKLEYS WAY was last seen running green in an okay bumper at Wincanton. A half to SPECIAL TIARA rated 170, he has the blood to be quite good.
BRIDIES BEAU is by NH super sire BLUE BRESIL and out of a very good mare for Harry Fry - she never won a bumper but she did bolt up grade 2 at Sandown.
SUPER SAINT is Nicholls’ second runner in this. Nice sire in SAINTS DES SAINTS and out of a mare who has also produced a triple Italian grade 1 winner.
I PLAY COUNTY under delivered last time having showed s much promise at Donny previously. He needs to leave that behind.
With these four boys dominating the market, it’ll be hard for any of the other runners to get a look in today.
Verdict: This is way too tough to read. Honeyball’s is very well bred but wou;d have needed to of come on for his last time out run. Plus, we don’t really like taking Nicholls on in bumpers unless the pedigree is useless and both of his horses are bred really well, BRIDIES BEAU fascinating given how good the dam was. No bet but we can see the first three in the market filling the first three places.
RISK ON
After a day of tools down yesterday, we have a couple of bets in the slop today:
15.35 HELLO JUDGE
Good form lto with WILLIAM OF YORK and will love the ground, others not suited to heavy going. 11/10 a good bet.
16.35 LE GRAND VERT
Hasn’t won for Micky yet since coming from over from France but his UK maiden looks imminent and todays conditions really suit. Small bet at 11/4.
