Since we brought back the 'best stats' section of the newsletter it's been fire. 9 winners from 19 horses last week (don't forget the multiple places) and even better last week.

But in a world where everyone bets too much and struggles to cage the emotional betting chimp (you know, that urge to keep spinning that roulette wheel), how do you play the stats?

Chimp feeders.

If you're going to throw loose change away on speculative acca's hoping to hit the jackpot, the stats horse are probably your best chance to land it... And regularly too.

If you want to make betting pay - bet less but with conviction (this cannot be understated) and keep the 'stupid' bets to a minimum.

Now, let's dive in.

Headline Roundup

Racing mourn a legend

The racing world poured tribute to Milton Bradley yesterday as the legendary trainer died at the age of 88.

Born in 1935, the Gloucestershire based trainer notched up over 1000 training career wins unders rules and was well known for transforming cheaply bought horses and turning them into winners.

RIP Milton Bradley

Pullin hopeful for Cheltenham

Jon Pullin, clerk of the course at Cheltenham, is hopeful that this Saturday’s bumper nine-race card can go ahead despite the course still being frozen in places.

Temperatures dropped to below freezing again on Monday night which won’t help the track, however, the Met Office believes that Cheltenham won’t drop below 0C for the foreseeable future, with the area expecting 8C temperatures on Friday.

Pullin told the Racing Post: “From Wednesday it'll be warmer with daytime temperatures up to 7C. It could dip down to 0C on Thursday and Friday evening but daytime temperatures on Saturday will be similar and should be above 0C from midnight onwards.

"If the forecast is right then we'd be fairly hopeful that conditions would have improved enough."

Hopefully, conditions can remain good ahead of Saturday, because jump racing could seriously do with a Saturday like this week.

Billy The Kid

Billy Loughnane is the talk of the town.

The apprentice recently raised the bat at 20 winners, losing his seven pound claim, and he was in no hurry to stop last night as he banged in a Wolverhampton treble.

The charismatic teenager secured victory in three of his six rides last night to move his career total wins up to 24, with his most emphatic victory of the night coming in the 6:30 onboard REBEL ANGEL for Mark Usher.

The young rider is a natural in front of camera and he even made his first appearance on ITV Racing on Saturday.

Keep it up, Billy!

Moore entries

Entries closed for Cheltenham on Saturday and there was a nice shake-up for the Clarence House Chase as six, yes six, were confirmed for the race.

The big surprise to the field was the inclusion of EDITEUR DU GITE, a late supplementation for the race by his trainer Gary Moore for just over £2,000.

He joins EDWARDSTONE, ENERGUMENE, AMARILLO SKY, FUNAMBULE SIVOLA and SIZING POTTSIE in the Grace 1 contest.

Elsewhere, DELTA WORK could face up to 16 rivals in the rearranged Cross Country Chase and PAISLEY PARK is set to try and retain his Cleeve Hurdle title.

Today's best stats

Note: Southwell is the only meeting today and the track is renowned for cheating so if playing, do so with caution.

CUSTARD THE DRAGON 17.30 lands just shy of 1 in 3 races at his favoured Southwell but that stat gets better with his placings there having been itm (either won or placed) in nearly 2/3 of his runnings there. Note: Big price at 18's and he normally only wins when well backed so watch the money.

ABNAA looks to retain his title in the 18.00 having won the race last year. He only won last Tuesday so is in good form and trainers sr is better than his average when running horses within 7days of last win.

Shoemark is 2 from 4 for Hills at Southwell and rides MAY SONIC for him in the 19.00. Yard land 1 in 3 in 3yo handicaps. Horse needs a revival though and is a big price in a race with only 7 runners.
