HEADLINE ROUND UP
MEGA BABES
For the sake of this article, if you multiply the Guinea by 1.05 you can convert into Sterling.
It was fireworks at Park Paddocks last night on day 2 of the Tatts December Mares Sale as high class, Saturday mares went through the famous ring for seven-figure sums.
Top lot was TEONA. She was a 280,000gns yearling in 2019 turned into a 4.5million guineas (£4,725,000) mare carrying to FRANKEL in 2023. A wild ride for the Rabbah Bloodstock! Her greatest win was at Longchamp when she beat SNOWFALL in the Group 1 Prix Vermeille.
In foal to FRANKEL, the same cross that produced ONESTO, and as Juddmonte were the successful purchasers she’ll be going back to the big man next year.
✨𝐓𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟒,𝟓𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎𝐠𝐧𝐬✨
@JuddmonteFarms outbid @coolmorestud to buy Teona, the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille winning daughter of Sea The Stars out of the Gr.1 winner Ambivalent carrying to Frankel, consigned by @BartonStud1 at the #TattsDecember Mares Sale.

Another standout pinhook was VIA SISTINA, a 5,000gns yearling in 2019 and a 2.7million guineas (£2,835,000) mare in 2023. Winner of the Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes and placed in two other Group 1 events this year. She’s bred on the super successful FASTNET ROCK/GALILEO cross that has produced Oaks Winner QUALIFY amongst many others.
LEZOO, a 77,000gns yearling in 2021 to a 2.2million guineas mare in 2023. The Group 1 winning 2yo who beat MAWJ and MEDITATE when winning the Cheveley Park Stakes is by the increasingly successful sire ZOUSTAR. Trained by Beckett, as is PROSPEROUS VOYAGE who also went through the ring last night. Herself a 65,000gns yearling in 2020 and now a 2.4 million guineas queen. Sold to Katsumi Yoshida who co owns the influential Northern Farm in Japan.
1000 Guineas winner CACHET, unloved as a yearling when going through the ring for 14,000gns, Highclere managed to pick her up at the breeze up sales for 60,000gns. Last night she sold for a whopping 2.2 million guineas and will be joining Prosperous Voyage on the flight to Japan as she was also purchased by Katsumi Yoshida.
CHALDEAN’S little sister GET AHEAD made 2.5 million guineas to First Bloodstock (don’t know who they are). Originally a 200,000 guineas yearling which was probably extraordinary value considering her brother Alkumait had just won the Gr2 Mill Reef Stakes. The family has exploded since and her Kingman sister last year was purchased by Juddmonte for 1,000,000 guineas as a foal.
Rogue Millennium will continue her racing career with @JosephOBrien2 having been bought by David Lanigan & @TedDurcan for 1.65m gns for @uscgatsby.
Consigned by @BartonStud1, she was a Royal Ascot winner and Gr.1 runner-up for @Roguesracing_ & @tomcloverracing. #TattsDecember

HUDUD, or as she is now known and renamed when purchased as a filly in training from Shadwell ROGUE MILLENIUM. A 35,000gns purchase in 2021, she sold last night for 1.65 million guineas. Winner of the Gr2 Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot and a gutsy second in the Gr1 Matron Stakes. She is going to be trained by Joseph O’Brien next year to try and win that coveted Group 1 prize.
GEOCENTRIC and PRIMO BACIO, both in foal to Frankel and both broke the million guineas barrier. The former was a 160,000gns yearling and after winning a brace of Listed events and probably helped by a covering to Frankel she commanded 1.2 million guineas in the sales ring last night.
PRIMO BACIO, who was our cliff horse and always ran hot and cold fetched 1.1million guineas but in 2019 was a 100,000gns yearling.
Other notable fillies includes; POPTRONIC sold for 1.4 million and Lowther winner RELIEF RALLY sold for 800,000gns. 10 mares broke the million guineas barrier - that’s insane.
WILL BE SUPREME
Nicky Henderson has a strong team of novice hurdlers this season and it seems as if WILLMOUNT will follow the CONSTITUTION HILL route towards the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in March.
The £340,000 five-year-old bolted up on hurdling debut at Newbury and is set to reappear on Friday in a Listed event that CONSTITUTION HILL won in 2021.
👀 Exciting prospect!
🐎 Willmount makes an impressive hurdles debut and a high-class prospect in the Agetur UK Novices' Hurdle for @sevenbarrows & Nico de Boinville @NewburyRacing

Owner Olly Harris confirmed: "I'm not sure what the plan is after Saturday but the aim in March is the Supreme. Nicky is a bit unhappy the Tolworth has been moved [to Aintree] because that would have been the obvious next step.
"What he did at Newbury was exactly what we were expecting from him. There was a slow pace and he had to make the running but he still won really well.”
Stablemate JERIKO DU REPONET has also been touted for the Supreme at Cheltenham, though whispers are that he could step up in trip and may even by a Ballymore horse.
A LIKELY CONSTITUTION
Speaking of CONSTITUTION HILL, yesterday was a tough day to keep tabs on whether he would run in Saturday’s Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle.
Over the weekend, trainer Nicky Henderson expressed his worry about the race occurring 17 days before the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day, and at one point yesterday, the exchange market was telling a clear picture pushing the champ out to odds which suggest he would be pulled.
Despite a big mid-day drift, Henderson and owner Michael Buckley came out to express their intentions for Saturday, both of whom suggesting that he would run…as long as Nicky was happy with the ground.
Owner Michael Buckley now tells me jumps star Constitution Hill is an “intended runner @Sandownpark Saturday, but things need to go right . Don’t want the ground to get too heavy.” Yeeehaaa! 🏇🙏

The big sticking point for connections is what the ground will be like. Sandown at the best of times is testing and the track is set to be hit by a lot of rain on Thursday.
On the topic of the weather, Henderson said: "I'm just keeping an eye on the weather and hoping that it doesn't go shocking on us. He's getting more and more likely to run."
We think he’ll run and didn’t get the market move - let’s not forget, he made his debut in a bog at Sandown. We get Nicky doesn’t want to bottom him but against the field, it should just be a light bit of work. Let’s hope Sandown racegoers can be treated to a special visitor on Saturday.
TODAYS BEST STATS
Only one standout stat today and that’s for RAINBOW DREAMER in the 20.00. We’ll always remember this horse beating BGP grad OCEAN WIND at Kempton. RD is a 5x winner at Kempton and won this race last year at 10/1 - the same price he is today. A top horse for King, he’s 10yo now so getting on a bit and can’t be racing for much longer. Let’s hope he’s still got it!
YOUNG BLOOD
LUDLOW BUMPER
Hendo’s heads the market here at 7/4. He’s come over from France having already won a flat race. We don’t know much about the sire but he had a good bumper for Nicholls and JP at Chepstow the other day. He’ll know his job so looks the right fave.
Lavelle’s next in market but she was a little mad in the pre’s lto and we imagine they’ll have trouble getting her down to the start. She’s well bred but a girl against the boys.
JJ’s runs a son of SCORPION…now they can be mad. He’s drifting and looking a little exposed. Fitness on his side.
Pauling’s is by new sire NIGHT WISH (SHOLOKHOV) who has had a good start to his stallion career. Ran no race at Huntingdon in the summer, will need to improve.
A PRO PO has drifted out to double figures which is bearish for the Snowden yard. Has a sibling who won a bumper and ground fine. The money is talking negatively.
LIGHTNINGUPOURDAYS probably want’s better ground. His half sister MAGICAL MAGGIE is running in the 14.35. Both have places chance if coping with the cut.
The rest can’t win.
Verdict: Hendo’s JIM DE SARTI should on paper win this race if he has fitted in well since being uprooted from France.
RISK ON
With Haydock off, Ludlow looks quite hard. Fergal’s is being smashed in the claiming race - same owners who own Hendo’s bumper horse. Money says they’re hoping for a good day.
We’ll play Hendo’s in the bumper.
