Let's dive in.

Headline roundup

Tragedy at MHS

We start the newsletter on a somber note as yesterday, Manor House Stables announced that a talented rider lost her life at the yard yesterday aged just 25.

Her name was Jess.

The stables are owned by ex-footballer Michael Owen and police are saying that they are not treating it as suspicious and that the next of kin has been informed about the incident.

We have nothing else to add here but our absolute sincerest condolences to all connected.

Grand National scratchings

16 horses were scratched from the Aintree Grand National yesterday with just over two weeks to go until the most famous horse race in the world.

Following the defects, Tim Vaughan’s EVA’S OSKAR is now number 40 on the list with OUR POWER, DUNBOYNE, FRANCKY DU BERLAIS, and FORTESCUE the next four who need a few more to come out to get a race.

The most interesting horse NOT to be confirmed for the race is Becher Chase winner ASHTOWN LAD for Dan Skelton who will now rely on his Coral Gold Cup winner LE MILOS in the £1,000,000 contest.

Reading previous quotes from Skelton about ASHTOWN LAD, he always said he was concerned about how far he would stay and since they rolled the dice with him at Haydock over hurdles, maybe he has taken a long time to recover and the doubts over stamina ticked him over the edge. Just speculation.

As expected, plenty have already formulated their opinions for the National and shared them to the world of Racing Twitter as well as trainers coming out to talk about a few ‘under the radar’ hopes.

Who do you think wins the National?

CORACH RAMBLER is still the 7/1 favourite with last year’s winner NOBLE YEATS at 8/1 and the Cross Country successor DELTA WORK at 12/1.

The Racing League is BACK!

Love it or hate it, it's fucking back and you know you're going to watch it.

Yes, that’s right, the Racing League returns to heat up our Thursday evenings and the team managers are largely the same, however, The East will be controlled by none other than Frankie Dettori in a player-manager role, a very Vincent Kompany for Burnley move this.

Frankie was a part of the Racing League last year as he notched up key successes for Team Wales & The West on the way to them winning the whole competition and now he has been promoted to manage The East. Some transfer.

The jockey draft will take place at Doncaster this weekend and three-time champion jockey Oisin Murphy will be available to be selected by any of the teams.

Bumper preview

Market Rasen

Not much to say here, Sam Thomas' just wins.

Summary: KATATE DORI will piss up.

Risk On

15.35 GALLIC GEORDIE

Last race before he gets put away and might just have something left up his sleeve. Will be his hardest race yet but conditions are perfect and at 6/4 (take BOG as he'll drift more) he's a solid bet in a two horse race vs Scudamores. Half single or lev up with the bumper pick.

15.10 SUPERSTYLIN

Missed 9/2 last night but BGP Capital took 7/2 this morning and this thing has been subsequently hammered. Complete plot job.
