It was good to see DIAMOND VEGA win so easily yesterday for the newsletter. And no, not just for the returns, more for the confirmation.

On paper this girl was a banker but the price was wild… how could a banker be 2’s, what were we missing?

Nothing:

Same as Tuesday, no lottery win but we’re more than

Let’s dive in.

BGP FANTASY LEAGUE COMP

We’ve been hyping up the TOTE’s new Fantasy game since we found it. Why? Simply because there is nothing else out there now which can help people cage the betting chimp while maintaining an emotional interest in the big races of the day.

People bet way too much and the Fantasy allows you to get limited risk on, fill your brain up with the dope it craves and still be in the mix for a big win.

If we hit 100 stables today, top of the BGP private league get’s a new ‘GM’ cap.

HEADLINE ROUND UP

Paddington to Melbourne?

The incredible campaigning of PADDINGTON could take another twist this season as Ballydoyle are eye up the Cox Plate in October as a future potential target.

The SIYOUNI 3yo has already collected 3x Group 1 wins this season and looks a durable type for Aidan O'Brien, so durable in fact that he will contest the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and could then potentially go to Australia at the end of the season.

Tom Magnier: ‘“When you look at Paddington he is the best three year old in Europe. Obviously, we've got Auguste Rodin that won the English Derby, he's a machine, but I was looking at Paddington and what he is doing is breath-taking”.

Ballydoyle battalion

Maintaining the focus on Ballydoyle, Aidan O'Brien revealed that he plans to run five, yes FIVE, in next weekends King George Stakes at Ascot including English and Irish Derby winner AUGUSTE RODIN.

19 are still entered for the £1.25 million contest and DEEP IMPACT colt is the market favourite at 3/1, but stablemate LUXEMBOURG is a 16/1 shot ADELAIDE RIVER, the horse surrounding all the controversy in the Irish Derby, is as big as 25/1.

It will be no 1,2,3,4 and 5 for Coolmore as Derby hero AUGUSTE RODIN will have his long awaited rematch with Royal Ascot winner KING OF STEELE as well as potentially taking on EMILY UPJOHN and last year's Derby winner, DESERT CROWN.

If they all line up, this will be huge!

Heskin heads home

Following his split from the retained rider-role with the McNeill family, jockey Adrian Heskin has decided to continue his career in Ireland going forward.

The 31 year old will return back to Ireland with wife Danielle, and the prominent jockey has sighted the British racing calendar as one of his reasons for doing so.

Heskin: “the amount of racing in England dilutes the number of runners, which makes it difficult to get rides, whereas in Ireland five races on a card could easily have 16 plus runners. It's not going to be easy to get going again, but I've got a good few years left in my riding career, so want to give it a go. I'm fortunate to have land at home and there's plenty to do in terms of bringing on young horses, which is something I have a huge interest in and is a side of the industry I’d love to get into more after I finish riding”.

Best of luck, AH.

STATS OF THE DAY

15.00 EYESHADOW runs for the Charlton’s who are 3 from 5 at course since their joint license.

18.45 GAMBIE TIEP runs again having only won Sunday. Pauling lands 1 in 3 when running them so quickly after the W.

20.40 SPRITZIN’ for SMP was only chinned last week when given the old trip hike spesh from the master trainer. Morris and SMP are 3 from 8 at Epsom all time.

YOUNG BLOOD

18.30 EPSOM

INNER CITY is bred in the purple being by DUBAWI o/o a multiple group winning mare. He cost a Kings ransom and he doesn’t look like he’s going to re-pay his price tag but he is the one to beat today and he can put a measly £5,400 in the kitty.

MISSION TO MOON is by US NAVY FLAG, he ran well lto at Kempton narrowly missing out but ran green. He’ll come on from that run, its difficult to know how good the form is from it but he’ll give INNER CITY something to think about I’m sure.

ARAGON CASTLE is by TERRITORIES and cost 120,000gns which is punchy for these owners as they do well but normally with horses who have cost around the 60k mark. maybe they're spending COLTRANE’s winnings. Dam was useless but is by SEA THE STARS. Trainers runners do well at the track and improve a lot from their debut runs.

HAWA JUMEIRAH by the incredibly moderate sire UNIVERSAL, however dam was 4th in a Gr3 so showed a bit of good form. Best watched on debut

REY DE LA BATALLA is by LE BRIVIDO who won the Jersey and this is his first crop of racing age. The form looks quite strong from his debut. He’s not without a chance. Dam was a good handicapper.

DRINK DRY looks one for the handicaps.

ROSENZOO is by ZOFFANY, showed very little on debut but can and must improve on it.

Verdict: Tricky little maiden to be honest without a strong view. We’ll hang our hat on ARAGON CASTLE to improve from his debut run. The third from his debut runs at 14.40 so best to watch that first.

RISK ON

No bets today. It’s a very tough days racing with no stand out horse. To cage the chimp and keep an interest we’ll play the Fantasy and have lunch money on the 5/1 stats treble.
