Equinties - the King's Princess

Equinties

Gm Equinauts

Archie Watson’s horse was beat fair and square yesterday at Beverley but Varian’s WARM SPELL was quite unlucky.

A tad too green and we think had he started the race better we’d have been booming a big end to an even bigger week…

As we have seen so many times this season already, it’s just so tough for the horses having their first run to beat those sharp, well educated Amo horses. And Amo’s success is all down to that one man, Robson Aguiar.

He basically trains all of all the Amo horses and then will drop them off when they’re ready to go.

I bet French Davis cant believe his luck.

Now, let’s dive in.

MERCH

We’ve got merch coming and yes, Finndog themed tee’s will be available …and of course, very limited edition.

Stay tuned.

BGP FANTASY LEAGUE COMP

We’ve been hyping up the TOTE’s new Fantasy game since we found it. Why? Simply because there is nothing else out there now which can help people cage the betting chimp while maintaining an emotional interest in the big races of the day.

People bet way too much and the Fantasy allows you to get limited risk on, fill your brain up with the dope it craves and still be in the mix for a big win.

It’s bad racing today - perfect time to play it. If we hit 250 stables, top of the BGP private league get’s a new ‘GM’ cap.

HEADLINE ROUND UP

Saturdays are for JUMBY

How many times has he done it for us on a big Saturday? (He even delivered a nice price place for us in the Wokingham last year. Like so many BGP hall of famers, he owes us nothing).

Despite Saturdays race not being a ‘vintage’ renewal, the race was still a great watch for newsletter readers as JUMBY delivered in the feature race of the day by winning the John Of Gaunt Stakes quite easily in the end.

As Charlie Bishop said in his post-race interview, at this level he is great. He’ll no doubt go up a few pounds from his rating of 109 pushing him out of the handicap chances.

He has been a great horse for Eve and his owners and they’ll need to be clever where they place him next. A bit like fourth placed GORAK.

Shaggas is silky smooth

One year after his death, William and Maureen Haggas won the Lester Piggot Stakes at Haydock with SEA SILK ROAD in an emotional success for the family.

Maureen, daughter of the late legend, is a key part of the Haggas operation, so naturally, landing the race named after her Father was both fitting and brilliant to see… and quite bloody obvious too in hind sight!

SEA SILK ROAD had form in the book. Second in the Gr2 Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot, she had also won the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes last year for Sunderland Holdings who also part own SEA THE STARS, her sire.

This smart filly ran disappointedly on her seasonal return, beaten into 6th by FREE WIND at York. The reopposing POPTRONIC placed 3rd but the roles reversed, possibly the extra 2 furlongs played into the hands of SEA SILK ROAD and she loves fast ground. Her pedigree is mostly German; her mother won as a 2yo and placed in Gr3 company in Hamburg.

So where next? Royal Ascot comes too quickly now but she has an entry in the Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes over the 1m4f in Ireland.

The King’s Princess

This was the performance of the weekend.

FRANKEL is the daddy King and this girl looks to be his big princess superstar.

NEW FEATURE - YOUNG BLOOD

Notes on pedigree, attractive crosses and sales trends

17.40 Windsor - a novice race for the girls

PAINTE is by EQTIDAAR and cost £120k as a breeze up. Her second on debut was a good run over 5f, connections have stepped her up to 6 today. Her dam hasn’t been a great producer with only 2 winners from 7 runners.

SOUTH KENSINGTON is by first seasons sire BLUE POINT and ran well on debut and could build on that. That form is mixed though with the 3rd winning next time but 2nd only coming 4th.

LINCOLN LEGACY is by FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND and won on debut but the form isnt great, only beating a moderate horse for Eve by a length.

LADY WULFRUN is by SAXON WARRIOR and out of a winning dam who has produced few winners. This girl might need further in time but the ground will be sure to suit today. Can Balding get another Monday night Windsor winner for the King like he did last week with REMINDER?

The market says the others are out for a jog including PINK SATIN who will need further in time.

Verdict: This is tough and any of them can improve 10-20lbs so best to stay out. SOUTH KENSINGTON’s debut was promising, the winner of that is probably a Royal Ascot winner in waiting she looked that good. Expect Balding’s LADY WULFRUN to come on leaps and bounds on this ground, especially over further in time. They are sweet on her.

TODAYS RACING

Today’s best stats

14.00 LITTLE TIGER was a huge gamble lto (20’s into 9/4) before being stopped by Hollie Doyle. This horse is well bred (ARREST is immediate family dam side) but conscious he’s not that big…presumably why he’s called LITTLE TIGER). SMP’s horse is 4/1 on today and won easily lto but Stone’s profit when sending only one horse to a meeting cant be ignored (£25 to £1 level stake).

20.10 NOBLE MASQUERADE goes under Buick who is 4 from 7 for Eve at Windsor, intentions clear here.

20.30 CORINTHIA KNIGHT’s best days might be behind him now (once rated 109) but he loves Ponte (6 from) and won this race last year so despite recent regression, could be in for a squeak.

These stats do not constitute financial advice. Use to either play the Fantasy league or create a ‘chimp acca’ to allow you to practice good habits and play singles with conviction.

RISK ON

We have a couple of big bets coming up this week so stick to the process - single with conviction and then use the Fantasy to curb the chimp and use the stat to satisfy the need to those big lottery acca’s.

15.30 MAGIC FORCE

Looked quick for Balding lto. His normally really need the run so for him to come 2nd on debut is a good indicator he can win a race like this against a weak field of mainly fillies. Full bet at 5/4.
