To celebrate the first jumps card in over a WEEK, I'm going to preview the whole damn card for banter, but first...
Let's dive tf in.
WEEKEND REVIEW
With a lack of jumps in the UK sending all betting degens clucking, Thurles provided a temporary hit of jumps crack and with it dropped a huge number of Cheltenham Festival clues.
Couleur-ful win for Fakir
And we start with the feature race of the day as in the Grade 2 Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase, FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES capitalised from a final-fence fall by HAUT EN COULEURS to win.
Fakir D’oudairies is a fortunate winner of the G2 Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase for JJ Slevin and @Jos@JosephOBrien2@thu@thurlesraces Haut En Couleurs falls at the last when the race was seemingly at his mercy.
Both Haut En Couleurs and Bryan Cooper are up OK 👏 http

The six-year-old faller had been campaigned over two miles in his novice chasing season last year and this was his second start at 2m4f - he looked to have the race at his mercy if not for his error at the last (he jumped it fine, just didn’t put the landing gear out, very GALOPIN DES CHAMPS-esc).
And good lord did Cooper's accidental flying dismount make for great memes.
Who did this ffs.

He isn’t entered for any Grade 1 chases at the Cheltenham Festival though, suggesting trainer Willie Mullins is exploring races outside of the big event in March once his new rating comes out. I mean, tell me you've already won the Festival without telling me you've already won the Festival.
🗣 Haut En Couleurs was one who got away for Willie Mullins at @thurlesraces this afternoon, in a race where Chacun Pour Soi disappointed. Watch what the trainer had to say about the pair to Gary O'Brien.

As for the winner, he is now a general 7/1 shot for the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, though his next run could be in the Ascot Chase in February - would that be too quick of a turnaround for Cheltenham?
🗣 Ascot next month and then the spring festivals will be on the agenda for Fakir D’Oudairies, says @JosephOBrien2. The trainer believes @thurlesraces would not be his ideal track.

Albert Bartlett shake-up
We have a new second favourite for the Albert Bartlett after Sunday as Willie Mullins’ EMBASSY GARDENS bolted up to take the 2m7f novice hurdle by 35 lengths.
EMBASSY GARDENS (Shantou) and Paul Townend win the W.T O’Grady Memorial @IrishEBF_ Novice Hurdle at @thurlesraces for trainer Willie Mullins

The seven-year-old was fourth to GOOD LAND at Christmas and really relished the step up in trip yesterday - he is now as short as 7/1 for the staying contest in March, a race that will be his next outing.
🗣 Next stop the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle for Embassy Gardens after his romp at @thurlesraces today, Willie Mullins suggests. The trainer's Monkfish won the same race before scoring at Cheltenham.

As mentioned, this gives a massive form boost to Barry Connell’s GOOD LAND, a horse who is entered for the Grade 1 Nathaniel Lacy Novice Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Embassy Gardens by 35 lengths at Thurles.

We are back.

Firms across the board shortened him up to 14/1 from 25/1 for the Albert Bartlett after Embassy Gardens’ victory yesterday and he is still 20/1 for the Ballymore.

Mares Chase winner?
The talking horse of RacingTwitter was back out on track yesterday as ALLEGORIE DE VASSY won at short odds under Paul Townend, however, it wasn’t without a few hiccups.
Oh my word! 👀
Early drama at @thurlesraces as Paul Townend and hot favourite Allegorie De Vassy almost go their separate ways.
What a recovery!

The six-year-old is now two from two over fences, however, she did show a tendency to jump out to her right, a potential worry for Cheltenham?
This is the problem with winning novice chases at long odds on. What happens when another horse puts Allegory De Vassy's jumping under actual pressure?
She can only beat what's in front of her of course, but her next start will be a colossal test

Despite a few errors, bookmakers shortened her up to 5/4 for the Mares Chase at the Festival, with recent winner IMPERVIOUS closely following her price.
But what did you make of her performance at Thurles? Extremely good or room for improvement?

Today's best stats
Jardine is 3 from 8 at 38% when using first time blinkers. SCAT MAGGIE wears them today for the 14.10.
Kielan Woods rides HERCULES MORSE for Pauling in the 14.00, they have 45% sr together at course w/ Pauling very profitable in these types of races here too.
16.20 GLORIOUS CHARMER looks set to at least place for Herrington and Keeley who are 2 from 4 together at Wolves.

VICKI VALE should win this at a canter and if pushed out, could be a good distance bet. Market says the majority of this field will be cheating but LELANT has the ped to go well in the mud and could get placed if trying.
14.00
Big stat for Pauling in this but his horse, HERCULES MORSE hasn't really done much yet and hasn't got the best pedigree. That said, I do feel the yard has to be feared with any horse in the mud and he's a massive thing who'll improve with time. UNCLE BERT looks like the horse to beat and is priced accordingly. Two horse race imo and the rev fc should land. One to watch in the field is PUDDLESINTHEPARK who is most certainly being cheated with.
14.30
MILITAIRE has been backed into fave for Greatrex who was going through a bright spell before this freeze. His horse will defo stay, as he proved lto. Skelton's MYLESFROMWICKLOW looks like he might need better ground on ped. FILANDERER is a very interesting horse for Morrison... his family have owned the dam line for as far back as I can see and they've bred some very useful horses from them, so naturally this will be a runner of great sentiment to them. His SP of 11/4 lto catches the eye, suggesting someone backed him but he ran a stinker (I can't tell if he was stopped). The best bred at a bigger price is probably LARRIKIN but couldn't win a terrible Point. I can't make a case for the others without info.
15.00
Another fave hard to look past in THOR DE CERISY (will all the faves have gone in by this point?) who went well in the mud lto and returns to fences. the only danger I can see to him is ANOTHER CRICK who went off fave lto (he'd won the same race last year) but pulled up after a nightmare run which can be forgiven. Between those two imo.
15.30
Skelton's can do no wrong atm and they have a strong chance with ROCKY MAN who is in the best form of any horse in this race atm having bumped into a good horse of Hendo's lto. I can't see how the others can win, look what's in the field - EQUINUS not good enough and probs needs better ground, WHITEHOTCHILLIFILI a mare and needs to find form, GLADIATEUR ALLEN on a revival mission, NO TACKLE not good enough, MASTER DEBONAIR finished, EMPRESSIVE LADY will probs need run, PILEON money says no and the rest cant win.
16.00
This is a terrible race with a boat backed into fave (he's literally called THE BOAT). The only horse I can make a case for is SAM'S THE MAN at 11's who'll love the ground and defo has a race in him.
16.30
I'd be watching the money in this race as they'll be some in here trying to exploit a mark they've cheated for.
Risk On
16.00 SAMS THE MAN
This is a low size, speccy play on breeding. Small bet ew at 11's
Risk on: Pro
15.30 ROCKY MAN
