Equinties - I'm not f'ing leaving!

Good old, Frankie. He loves it, doesn’t he! No matter what he’s doing, he’s in the spotlight.

When AP McCoy retired, it was after announced after a small winner at a local track, it wasn’t after a huge winner where it would take the limelight away from the horse or connections.

Frankie’s done a full, season-long farewell tour…and still not retiring lmao!

Look, we all knew he was never going to retire (and none of us really want him to go) but the whole ‘farewell, Frankie’ thing got VERY tiring.

We imagine he’ll start of riding in US, perhaps do a stint in the middle east and down under and then come back to the UK for Royal Ascot.

British racing will miss him sorely.

Let’s dive in.

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

GLOBE TROTTING PRINCESS

Everyone’s favourite sprinter, HIGHFIELD PRINCESS, is set to miss the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint next month and head for the Hong Kong Sprint on December 10th.

Despite her fourth-placed effort in last year’s renewal of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, trainer John Quinn is keen on giving his stable star more time and the £2.5 million event at Sha Tin, a race worth more than three times than the Breeders’ Cup equivalent, is her next target.

Quinn said: “All being well, she’ll head to Hong Kong. We thought about it long and hard and decided to target just one of the two races. She’s won over all distances and we thought the six furlongs at Sha Tin was the way to go. We’re happy with her but it gives her a bit more time.”

MONSTER TO TRACK

Book 2 of Tattersalls October Yearlings Sale is in full flow this week after the recent successes of Book 1 and the big price tags are still out in good force as Blandford Bloodstock took home a SEA THE STARS colt for just shy of half a million.

Yesterday’s top lot is closely related to MEKHTAAL, the 2017 Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan winner, and Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock was taken by his resemblance to Shadwell monster BAAEED, a fellow SEA THE STARS colt.

He said: “It’s very hard to get around this number of horses and very early on Sam Goyette, who’s currently working for Juddmonte, told me he’d found a special horse. I raised my eyebrows and thought, ‘Yeah, of course’, but when I went down and saw this colt I was like, ‘Wow! This is a very serious horse.’

“It’s interesting as I saw Baaeed quite a lot at William Haggas’s, and he had this huge, flat hindquarter and great width of hip, but he wasn’t a huge horse. This horse has the same hind end as Baaeed. He’s a different colour but he’s the same sort of model. He had great movement and he just looked classy out there.”

From these comments alone, he is undoubtedly one to watch next year. Check him out below:

ANIMAL RIGHTS SENTENCED

Ben Newman, the Animal Rights activist that ran onto the track during this year’s Epsom Derby, has been given a two-month suspended sentence and has been fined £10,000 for his actions.

Despite the High Court injunction from the Jockey Club to prevent people from entering the track at the Derby, Newman ran onto the home straight while the Derby field was still 10 furlongs from home earning him an 18-month suspended sentence. LMAO.

YOUNG BLOOD

Yesterday’s bumper preview was the wrong side of a photo finish from finding the 7/1 winner in Georgina Nicholls’ nag. Let’s see if we can find the winner at Worcester:

15.05 WORCESTER

This will be a familiar sight this season, Nicholls favourite for a bumper. He runs RICKETY BRIDGE who was last seen hosing up in a point. He’s out of a half to the famous BIG BUCKS. Proper French slop pedigree, he’s sure to make a great chaser and any rain will be a blessing.

WENDIGO is next in the market having seen some support this morning, 8’s into 5’s. He too was last seen winning a point. Out of a French flat winner and his dam sire is MARTALINE who excel in bumpers.

The rest are quite weak in the market including nice pedigree’s such as the full bro to PEMBROKE in WELLINGTON ARCH and half to 160 rated WESTERN WARHORSE in WEST WARHORSE.

A small bit of support for SPICE BOY, a full sibling to SPICE GIRL who won a bumper for Keighley.

Verdict: the winner will come from the top two in the market and despite Nicholls’ excellence in getting one ready for bumpers, especially at this track where is 4 from 5, the vote goes to WENDINGO ew.

STATS OF THE DAY

17.50 CLANSMAN won this race last year and returns in form having won easily lto. More, he is 4 from 6 in races where the going has been described as soft or worse, it’s heavy today. A bit to find on ratings, especially with Lucinda’s, but conditions should level the playing field in a bad bad race.

15.20. A similar stat for SASSOON who is 3 from 3 when running in soft/heavy during the months of October/November and rated under 60 or under. It’s October now, he’s rated 52 today and gets his heavy conditions.

RISK ON

Some nice racing at Worcester and Exeter today but it’s very competitive and today will be a tools down day to wait for the right bet.

To keep the betting chimp caged, we wouldn’t put anyone off immaterial lunch money bet on the bumper horse or even a 200/1 ew trixie with the stat horse. If we hear anything it will be posted to @equinties, otherwise tools down.
