Equinties - Greenham Saturday

Equinties

Gm, Equinauts

It cannot be overstated how much todays racing will impact the Guineas market.

One of the biggest hype horses...ever in fact, ALBERT EINSTEIN, goes up against another Guineas entrant horse who continued to defy huge odds last year, ZAVATERI. We backed Eve’ on debut last year at 5/1 and he’s won 2x Group 2’s and a Group 1 since. Not once has he gone off under 5’s.

Had ZAVATERI been trained by, say Balding for example, would he have gone off a lot shorter in his races? Maybe so!

Anyway…

It’s game on the Greenham and ALBERT EINSTEIN and ZAVATERI’s participation in this race has meant that, of all the racing this week, the Greenham is the one every one as been waiting for.

We’re not saying the Craven meeting wasn’t it. The meeting was brilliant and some good horses were found, whilst other markets were shaped.

But there is a feel to the Greenham that we might just see something special if the Ballydoyle giant delivers on the reputation.

I guess we’ll find out.

Let’s dive in.

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

💰BIG MONEY

History was made at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale when a colt from the first crop of unbeaten champion FLIGHTLINE sold for a massive $10.5 million, setting a new benchmark for the sale.

The 2yo had already turned heads during his workout and the colt was secured by Donato Lanni on behalf of Zedan Racing Stable, with trainer Bob Baffert reportedly one of the many admirers.

The record-breaking price makes him one of the most expensive two-year-olds ever sold in America, easily surpassing the previous OBS high set by BRANT, another top-level performer purchased by the same connections.

Bred by Edward and Beverly Seltzer alongside Bill Farish, and consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds, the colt is out of the stakes-winning mare LUCREZIA, a daughter of INOT MISCHIEF. Having been bought for $575,000 as a foal, his rise in value underlines both his physical appeal and special pedigree, while also capping a remarkable week for the consignors, who also sold a high-priced filly earlier in the sale.

FLIGHTLINE is regarded as one of the best horses ever born and crowned Horse of the Year in 2022, and now every one want’s his blood. His progeny are going to be ones to follow and look forward to.
