X, the whole of it, not just Racing X, was talking about Frankie Dettori yesterday in I’m A CELEBRITY.
Every household in the world knows who he is. It just shows how much he transcends the sport and how important he is for racing.
Love live the Italian King.
Now, let’s dive in.
Don’t forget: After giving away the Vegas trip last weekend, don’t miss our next prize - a £500 John Lewis gift voucher to help with your Christmas shopping.

HEADLINE ROUND UP
STAY DREAMIN’
High-profile owner Chris Giles has put his money where his mouth is (literally) as he has backed his horse, CRAMBO, at 33/1 for the Stayers’ Hurdle ahead of his handicap hurdle run at Haydock on Saturday which Fergal chats about here:
Breaking news from the esteemed trainer
Crambo heads to @haydockraces on Saturday

The cynic in us says this is a stunt for their sponsor BresBet to pick up a bit of free money but then again, if we owned him, why tf not!? Racing without over ambitious owners is NOTHING.
The six-year-old by SADDLER MAKER has won six of his eight starts for Fergal O’Brien, with his two losses occurring in Grade 1 company in the Challow Hurdle and Mersey Novices’ Hurdle.
He made a winning start to his season in facile style at Aintree in late October and is a general 3/1 chance for the 14.20 at Haydock – his long-term aim – but part-owner Giles has bigger ambitions further along the line.
Crambo gets back to winning ways with a confident victory in the Jewson Handicap Hurdle for Connor Brace and Fergal O'Brien 👏👏

"About two or three weeks ago I backed him at 33s for the Stayers' with Sky Bet, but I was limited,” said Giles. “I'm thinking about trying to get another £250 on him each-way because he's going to be 10s or 12s if he wins on Saturday.
"You wouldn't be frightened of anything in the current division if you owned an up-and-coming horse. Fergal would probably have favoured going the Pertemps route this season but fortune favours the brave and you've got to grasp the nettle."
CHELTENHAM SIRENS
No, that’s not that sirens from the streets of Dublin you can hear, it’s the hype horse MR POLICEMAN making his debut today.
During the swarm of the jump trainers’ stable tours, this horse moved markets for the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival based on vibes and comments alone (classic), and he went from 20/1 to 8/1 almost overnight after Sporting Life visited Closutton in late October.
Today, the Rich Ricci-owned five-year-old makes his debut over fences having beaten CASH BACK, SOLE PRETENDER, and FILS D’OUDAIRIES over hurdles on his Irish debut in April.

Although he seems to be a classy horse with his half sister boosting the pedigree (and our bumper strike rate) a couple of weeks ago – this still needs to be proven on course – the French import has a tough task on his hands with PINKERTON and DEPLOY THE GETAWAY against him. The former ran a good race behind IMAGINE and INOTHEWAYURTHINKIN on chase debut and the latter looked very smart based off his maiden hurdle win at Down Royal in January but has yet to step back up to that level.
GOLDEN GIRL
Nicky Henderson looks to have a good team ahead of Cheltenham this season and one who threw her hat into the ring was GOLDEN HORN’s PAWAPURI yesterday after her maiden hurdle win at Wincanton.
All eyes on Pawapuri 👀
Pawapuri, whose two previous runs over hurdles were in graded company, absolutely demolishes lesser company on seasonal return.
How high can she rank over hurdles for her powerful yard?

Following her two wins on the Flat for William Haggas in 2022, she moved to Henderson and was chucked into the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle on her hurdling debut before her effort in the Grade 1 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree. On her seasonal reappearance yesterday, the well-backed four-year-old made all and jumped beautifully to win under Nico de Boinville.
Henderson obviously rates her quite highly to be chucking her in the deep end like he did last season and she looks to have plenty of speed – she is a general 50/1-shot for the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival.
GOLDEN HORN is very underestimated as a sire. He’s sitting 15th in Europe’s black type winners table sat between GLENEAGLES and SIOUX NATION and above SIYOUNI! That’s pretty good company.
GOFFS NOVEMBER SALE
GHAIYYATH’s full brother stole the headlines at Goffs last night. The son of DUBAWI who is the mares 13th foal sold for 700k, GHAIYYATH himself was purchased in the same ring for 1.1m by Godolphin back in 2015. The buyer was Yulong Investments, owned by self-made billionaire Yusheng Zhang who was once a taxi driver! He’ll be sticking his hand in his pocket at the upcoming mares sale which starts tomorrow.
Yulong Investments, signing as Lucky Vega, go to €700,000 for the Dubawi brother to Ghaiyyath

It has been a strong market at Goffs. The clearance rate was 85% which is good (anything high 80s low 90s is what they want). Median was 52k which is pretty daunting considering what the stallion fees are.
36 lots sold for 100k or more which is high, clearly a healthy market if you’ve got one by the right stallion and it walks well. Top price of 700k which again is good.
There were a few withdrawals, more so than normal and that is probably because they didn’t have the interest they were hoping for indicating that buys were thin on the ground. It could be because people are wary of the market for next year and/or we’ve got Tattersalls December Foal Sales next week.
YOUNG BLOOD
15.35 CATTERICK
TRUDIE GLEN is the uneasy fave here. Last seen finishing third in a girls race, she’s up against three boys today. Nicely bred but will need to improve.
GWASH for Fergal is next in the market. This yard cleaned up in bumpers last year and have been easy enough to take on this season. GWASH is a point winner but only for the front two falling. New sire has had some success in bumpers but not to a great level.
IORANGI DE L’ISLE is next in the market at 5/2. Both sire and dam sire have exceptional strike rates in bumpers. Unlike GWASH, this lad won a point fair and square. He fell in his first point when close in behind the highly touted and previous newsletter winner BALLYBURN.
DEFENCE WITNESS is another point winner. Nice enough ped and Sandy can have them ready for bumpers. Point form a bit sketchy as really only beat one horse.
Verdict: all over IORANGI DE L’ISLE in this. McCain in good form and he has won this race in ‘21 and ‘19.
15.55 CHEPSTOW
SAN FRANDISCO (great name) heads the market and is very short at 13/8, someone’s been piling in. He cost a fair bit so perhaps the market is chasing the price tag. Sire is lovely for this race but the dam side is weak and completely opposable but, like so many times we’ve seen lately, there just isn’t the field for a lay so we’ll take on.
JJ is the king of bumpers this week, what’s he been feeding them!? HIGHLANDS LEGACY has had a run so will be fit and ready to go. Out of a good mare making him better bred than the shortie fave.
BELOW THE RADAR reps the mighty Nicholls. His horses have had mixed results lately. Nicely bred and there will be a reason the Hemming’s clan bought this one since their dispersal sale.
DON’T WIND ME UP should be a bigger price. Nothing wrong with his ped, he’s related to TIDAL FLOW, but yard don’t bother with bumpers. That said, TIDAL FLOW did win his bumper first time up - rare.
We wrote last week how Evan Williams’ strike rate in bumpers in deceptive. It’s not for his lack of trying, sometimes he just doesn’t have the ammo but a lot do go close. He seems to have the right horses this season though and landed us a brilliant 16/1 winner Wednesday as well as knocking them in for himself the last two weeks. THE BIG MAN probably has the best ped in this race and is way too big at 12/1.
Verdict: We won’t but laying the fave is tempting. You just know JJ’s is going to be fired up. The Hemmings lot always buy well. THE BIG MAN is well bred. It’s not a massive field but the quality is there. HIGHLANDS LEGACY probably wins owing to the yard form but on pedigree we’ll go with THE BIG MAN at 12’s.
TODAYS BEST STATS
Everyone’s favourite section was back with a bang yesterday. Today’s best stats are:
Hendo is going for a hat trick in the 13.25 with unbeaten DODDIETHEGREAT. Named after rugby legend Doddie Weir, anything this horse does will raise awareness and money for a great cause and a charity which is particularly close to us here at Equinties.
He’s a bit old no bless him but BOBO MAC bolted up in the same race last year (the 15.25), more, Tom Symonds won it the year before too with MR WASHINGTON. Another trainer going for a hat trick.
RISK ON
Pretty confident on the Catterick bumper verdict otherwise it’s pretty dodgy racing today so we’ll play the TOTE FANTASY who feature Fairyhouse and Ascot today. Add your stable to the BGP league using code QHZ36G.
The only other horse that looked close to a good bet was one we won on the other day:
12.40 UNION FLAG
A lto winner for the newsletter, he has less to beat today and can defy the weight… we think.
