Gm Equinauts
We want to start today’s newsletter with a note about TRUESHAN.
He was a true modern-day great of the stating Flat division, and it’s just a shame that he went out this way. He had achieved nearly all there was to achieve in his division, and we all remember that Northumberland Plate wIn a few seasons ago.
TRUESHAN showing his massive heart winning the Northumberland Plate of 10st 8lbs.
He was the horse of a lifetime for Alan King, Hollie Doyle and his owners.
RIP you legend. An absolute warrior. 💔

We saw a bit online of people questioning why connections ran the horse, and some even went as far as to say that they are the reason for TRUESHAN dying.
What a load of bs.
Hollie Doyle has paid an emotional tribute to her friend Trueshan:
"He was a special, special horse. I’m just devastated. He’s been amazing for me, a star, and those memories we have together are some of my very best"

Unfortunately, incidents like this happen to horses. The ground was not to blame. He’s just a big horse with a hell of a lot of muscle. The fact it’s happened to him though is a massive kick in the balls considering what a contentious relationship it’s between the the ground, the trainer and the fans. But that’s simply a miserable coincidence.
His trainer is NOT to blame. After the first-race, Kingy asked every single jockey about how the ground was riding. That shows care, and he’s certainly not a trainer who runs horses because they’re impatient and think “fu*ck it”.
Thank you for the memories, TRUESHAN.
Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
WINNERS
There were two winners to talk about from yesterday, ZAVATERI and SCANDINAVIA.
In a quick few lines, ZAVATERI is now probably a Guinness horse to consider for next year, and the way he was able to go and then go again in order to win the race was impressive, especially under a penalty. A good horse for his brilliant owners!
🚀 Eve Johnson Houghton on Zavateri:
“Name me a better juvenile this season. He’s not only very talented, he’s so tough.
“He just does everything so easy at home. He’s as good a juvenile as I’ve had at this trip.”
Dewhurst Stakes next before the Guineas.

As for SCANDINAVIA, there is a debate to be had that he is just better than ILLINOIS. He seems to stay better, he’s more unexposed, and now he’s beaten his older stablemate. He could be a stayer to really fear next season, and Wayne Lordan was quite complementary.
He said: "I think in the future he could step into Kyprios's shoes, but I suppose if Kyprios was here today it might have been a tougher task. That's the way it goes, Kyprios has gone, so this could be the man for the next few years.
"He's improving. He's only a three-year-old and was taking on the older horses for the first time. We always felt the trip was going to be okay for him, but he was going up against Group 1 performers and had to step up too. Even though he won well last time, we were still finding out a bit today. If it didn't happen, it was going to happen in the future."
It’s pretty likely that this Goodwood Cup winner will come back in trip for the St Leger next month, and it seems that Ballydoyle are really campaigning as a hardy three-year-old. Amazing to see!
