Equinties - Glorious Goodwood day 1

Glorious Goodwood kicks off today and let’s have a look at what the ground is.
The official going is good, good to soft in places but that was recorded yesterday morning and it’s been scorching since. Quite the contrast to this time last year when one of the days had to be cancelled owed to flooding (obvs why were able to pick out mud lover SUMO SAM!).
The newsletter finds SUMO SAM at 25/1 (40’s on the exchange lol)!
BOOM.

So, good ground is, unfortunately, the order of the day and it’ll continue to get quicker as the racing goes on, so we’ll be eyeing up the fast ground horses in the coming days.
Clerk of the course Edward Arkell said: “I should think we'll be good tomorrow and maybe good, good to firm by racing, but let's wait and see. If we were to water, then it probably wouldn't be before Wednesday evening in case the forecast is to change and the fact it's due to rain at some point.
"The ground will obviously quicken up and if we have to put some water on, then we'll do that, but we'll wait before we make a plan."
