Equinties - Frankie's tease

Equinties

Gm Equinauts

Racing X is hilarious.

Firstly, unless you don’t care for racing news, which is weird if you’re reading this newsletter, you’ll know Frankie has been teasing the Press over the possibility of continuing to ride in the US

… and people are getting REALLY riled up over it.

WHO GIVES AF.

No one actually wants him to retire but what, he now HAS to retire just because he said he would otherwise @jamesaknight is going to be butt hurt Frankie lied to him?

It’s not Dettori’s fault the media and big race meetings have been pumping this season as his farewell tour to sell tickets to the show.

This season has proved that bar Moore, he’s still better than any other of the young jockey’s out there and every time he does something great only acts as a stark reminder of the massive hole there’ll be in British flat racing.

If he gets offered a one year lottery contract from the States, why wouldn’t he take it?

Idiots.

Anyway, breaking news for a big lad who HAS actually retired…

Happy retirement, PYLEDRIVER. A career at stud awaits!

Lets dive in.

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

1000 AND UP

Shaggas no. 1 and Hollie Doyle’s husband, Tom Marquand, brought up his 1000th UK winner at Windsor yesterday as he guided the 5/4 favourite FIVE TOWNS to victory in the fillies’ handicap.

William Haggas’ stable jockey landed his first winner for Richard Hannon back in 2014 and nine years on, he is at the top of the game both here in the UK and overseas in the likes of France and Australia.

Fittingly, his milestone success was achieved on a Summerville Lodge-trained horse having ridden 268 winners for his boss, 149 for his previous boss Richard Hannon and 59 for long-time supporter Tony Carroll.

Of course, the best of his triumphs in the saddle came away from our shores with ADDEYBB who provided him with his first Group 1 success in the 2020 Ranvet Stakes, but victories for HM The King and HM The Queen at this year’s Royal Ascot as well as in the 2020 St Leger with GALILEO CHROME have stapled the 25-year-old as one of the best in the business.

Congrats, Tom, and here’s to 1000 more.

MANSA MUSA ‘MERICA

Remember MANSA MUSA? You know, the two-year-old that upset Racing X at Glorious Goodwood by beating odds-on-shot ARRAY at 20/1.

Well, the Goodwood maiden winner was back out last weekend at the Curragh in the Group 3 Tower Stakes and despite a small walk in the market, he finished second to the well-backed LETSBEFRANKABOUTIT.

Following the improvement shown in Group-level company, connections are dreaming of a tilt at the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint as Barry Irwin, head of Team Valor who part-own’s the speedy juvenile, said: We’re going to run him back one more time going six furlongs at Fairyhouse on September 18th because that is the most suitable race and if he performs well enough, we will send him over to America for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.”

If you were wondering about the form of that Goodwood maiden, ARRAY (out of a half-sister to FRANKEL) bolted up nto, the third (ALASKAN GOLD) won on his next start, and the fourth (HAVANAGREATTIME) won easily yesterday as tipped in the Equinties newsletter”.

Okay, so he didn’t quite say that last bit but he is right, the form looks no fluke, so why wouldn’t they be bullish about eyeing up prizes in the States?

SPRINT CUP

And finally, this Saturday’s action is highlighted by the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock and two horses have been supplemented for the £400,000 contest.

As discussed recently, BELEIVING has been supplemented for the race by Highclere Racing as well as, and more notably, MILL STREAM for Jane Chapple-Hyam.

Owner Peter Harris chalked up £20,000 to get his three-year-old GLENEAGLES colt into the race following an August double over in France on soft ground.

Regular jockey Marco Ghiani is looking forward to the weekend: “This lad deserves to be there. He’s shown this year that he’s very good and I’m excited to ride him. I rode him this morning and he seems to be in good order. He’s got a good chance and it’d be great to get that Group 1 win for both of us.”

YOUNG BLOOD

14.45 GOODWOOD

PINK SATIN by CHURCHILL made a winning debut and then was well beaten by Listed winner SHUWARI and lto beaten by a colt who has since won a big 2yo handicap at York. Solid form and in the picture.

SAY HELLO by HAVANA GREY has given connections a good year winning once at HQ and placing twice from 5 runs. Another bold bid expected although the weight to be carried is a slight concern.

JE NE SAIS QUOI by DANDY MAN is a hard one to judge, started off quite well but slipped down the handicap after a couple of poor runnings. Needs to get back on track.

SNAFIYA started out with George Boughey and has switched to Alice Haynes after the owner threw his toys out which seems to be the norm with him. Alice has done a good job finding two easy races for her to win but this is tougher.

LIV MY LIFE by AWTAAD, the step up in trip will suit, carries bottom weight today with Buick riding. Needs a PB but that’s not out of the realms of possibility.

Verdict: PINK SATIN is the pick today despite SAY HELLO brining the best form. PINK SATIN was giving a good horse 5lbs lto and today’s 6f suits.

STATS OF THE DAY

After a great time last week for this stats section, only one qualifier today:

Tuer lands 1 in 3 when running his horses quickly within 7 days of last win. Runs BELLARCHI today in the 17.45.

RISK ON

We think the Young Blood horse is solid for a bet, we also like:

14.10 CAVIAR HEIGHTS

Been told to back Blading’s in this but there are also whispers for the Menuisier horse. We’re going to have a good bet on Balding’s as a single and then small stake hedge on the rev fc with LOUIS QUATORZE paying 4’s and 7’s - that’s pure gambling.

17.05 ROYAL PARADE

NOTE: The ground needs to be good or better for this horse. It’s currently good to soft but with the weather so hot, it could easily dry out before race time. This horse won lto over course and distance and hasn’t had ideal conditions since. Missed the break lto but stayed on well and now back up to 6f, should be bang there. 4’s ew.
