Naturally we got a bit of shit for calling off yesterday's bet… from ‘tipsters’ with less followers than my fucking intern no less. Lols given the horse we got word for was a heavy drifter, selling off to 3/1 from 6/4 and still hacked up.
I had him well in front but apparently Moores is a machine, I’m now leaving the race entirely.

Anyway, we should have played the word horse instead but tools down is good practice anyway. I’ve still got the same bank, racing Twitter's tipsters still have no following and you’re still reading this newsletter.
Let’s dive tf in.
Headline Roundup
A different kind of ranking
I thought yesterday's edition was good fun so we’ll continue the theme of prize-giving.
With the lack of front-page news becoming an annoyance to our newsletter, today we bring you the top three performances over Christmas that were total disappointments.
We have ground rules for this list. This could be fancied losers, complete bomb outs, or even winners whomst we weren’t completely sold on.
It’s more of a ‘where did Racing Twitter go over the top’ list – the answer is always.
A nomination who went close to making the top 3 was Ryan Potters ‘Christmas bet’ LUCKY BOUNCE. This gelding went off 200/1 on his previous 3 starts but was smashed up into 6/4 at Market Rasen to try land the yard gamble they often do in December. Tbf to the horse he nearly did it, just going down by a neck but racing twitter would have been a buzz had he landed the spoils.
3) I AM MAXIMUS – 28th December, 2:55 Leopardstown
This list was tough as it was hard to find the line between controversial and stupid, but I AM MAXIMUS has made it onto the podium.
For a horse who has won only once over hurdles, a two-mile event to beat RAYMOND TUSK, Willie Mullins’ seven-year-old has gone off favourite four times in his seven races under rules.
🚀 Lovely turn of foot

It’s easy to see why – he beat MY DROGO in a bumper, was third to JPR ONE in a novice hurdle, and second HILLCREST at Cheltenham.
However, his first two races over fences have been frustrating and Wednesday’s eight-length loss to GENTLEMANSGAME was disappointing.

Throughout the race, he jumped slightly out to his right, got the fifth all wrong, and was generally not very consistent – he gave lengths to the field at most of his obstacles.
To make up for some of his errors, he travelled supremely well to shorten to gap to GENTLEMANSGAME, so as a result, he found little after the last.
A step up in trip might be beneficial but maybe just a watching brief on his next run is wiser.
2) BOB OLINGER – 28th December, 1:45 Leopardstown
Sorry lads, BOB OLINGER is finished.
Gone are the days of him streaking up the Cheltenham hill in the Ballymore, he just isn’t the same.

It’s a shame, but it happens to horses in all generations and the idea of it doesn’t get any easier. In horse racing, everyone should love to see good horses, even with the monetary aspect aside.
As for Big Bad Bob, he just isn’t performing to that level – it was shown in his beginners chases to an extent, his Graded efforts over fences were a tough watch, and now his charge into the Stayers’ Hurdle division has begun on two flat notes.
Personally, his run in the Lismullen Hurdle was riddled with jumping errors but his engine powered him to at least second, in the recent Jack de Bromhead Christmas Hurdle, his jumping got better (but he was still hesitant at too many) but just couldn’t find what he used to have.
Crikey, that was good ...

It’s tough, but BOB OLINGER makes the list.

1)JET POWERED – 31st December, 12:40 Newbury
We were going to try and find a winner to talk about but none made it onto the shortlist, however, a 6/1 ante-post favourite for the Supreme losing 29 lengths – yeh, that is number one.

Now what happened to the best novice hurdler Henderson has in his yard ‘apparently’?
It’s tough to examine his Newbury run in isolation, but even his first run over hurdles wasn’t ‘perfect’ like Racing Twitter would have you believe – he wasn’t electrifyingly quick, he just travelled at one speed and got them all at it.
Could this be a fluke? Yes. You can always put a line through one run despite the fact he went out like a light. However, what’s his ultimate aim? You’d say that a potential step up in trip could suit him.
All we know now is that this run from JET POWERED has made it to number one in our rankings.
Risk on
It’s shit racing today, but I’m watching the market in the bumper.
