HEADLINE ROUNDUP
RACING LEAGUE FINAL
Because of the beginning of the Leger meeting on Thursday, the Racing League’s denouement is tonight and for some teams, it is all to play for.
The final meeting of the @RacingLeagueUK is at @Southwell_Races tomorrow and I can’t wait! After two years in the gutter, Team Ireland are in a position to win the whole thing. @osbornejamie has his two jokers left to play, but we have the stronger team. We are coming to win. 🇮🇪

It looks like a two-team contest this evening, so let’s look at the horses likely to make the difference.
FASTER BE is getting backed a bit for Team Ireland. A well related colt by TIME TEST, he was given a ride lto at Newbury which suggested there is a bit more to come from this lad.
Arguably the horse to beat is the fave CRIMSON SPIRIT who won easily enough at Epsom. Out of a multiple winning dam who has also produced multiple winners, more could come from this HARRY ANGEL colt.
In the 18.45 DIONYSIAN is fave off the back of his eye-catching effort lto. He was ridden cold and stayed on late. He reopposes BILLY MILL who won the race, just from the eye you’d think DIONYSIAN would have finished a lot closer to him with a clear run.
Normal service resumed! 🔥
It's @RacingLeagueUK and it's Saffie Osborne who powers home on Billy Mill to win for Wales & The West at @NewcastleRaces!

We spoke with Opulence Thoroughbred founder owner George Gill this morning about DIONYSIAN who said ‘the step back up to a mile will suit, has a good draw and I believe go very close… we also have a filly called MUBHIJAH running up at Carlisle today that has a very good chance”.
It wouldn’t be the first time Opulence Thoroughbreds have landed multiple wins on the same day, they landed a Christmas treble back in December of last year with HUBERT’S DREAM, TYNDRUM GOLD and today’s horse DIONYSIAN.
⚜️RAY DAWSON ⚜️and Dionysian power clear to an impressive 1m novice stakes win for trainer Stuart Williams and lucky Owners Opulence Thoroughbreds at Kempton Park!
In the process this winner makes 2022 numerically and statistically Rays best year riding In England! 📈🔥— Brook Sports Management (@BrookSportAgent)

HIERARCHY looks a potential gamble in the 19.15. Could this lad help secure victory for Wales & The West? On a mark of 82, that’s 26lbs below his career-best mark of 108 achieved in April 2022 when second in the Group 3 Commonwealth Cup Trial. Trainer and team manager, Jamie Osborne, has snuck him into this 0-80 and could be the class act in the race.
As for The East, jockey/manager Frankie Dettori is booked for two rides today with SEA STONE in the 19.45 and ANGLE LAND in the 20.15 – he won’t be on no-hopers and SEA STONE is seeking a hat-trick.
NEW YEARS LEAVE
New Year’s Day is known as a good day for racing with plenty of meetings to get stuck into for paying punters, notably Cheltenham’s competitive meeting, however, local residents of sleepy Norfolk’s Fakenham Racecourse will be looking for a new activity as their NYD card has been scrapped by the BHA.
People aren’t happy:
How can it possibly be right that @FakenhamRC has lost its New Years Day fixture, having staged it for 15 years?
‘23 Largest crowd of year
‘22 2nd
‘21 No fixture
‘20 Largest
‘19 3rd
‘18 3rd
‘17 4th
‘16 Largest
‘15 3rd
‘14 4thManifestly unfair on the track & local racegoers.

@FakenhamRC Have been to Fakenham many times and an absolute gem of a course. I was hoping to move back to England and retire to watch racing in 7 years, but I doubt there will be much left.

The one-day event is a key part of the season for Fakenham and had offered up £100,000 in prize money for the very first time this year.
So why has this happened?
Well, the meeting itself is owned by the BHA but has taken place at the East Anglian track over the last 15 years thanks to 15 successful individual applications to host the event each year. However, thanks to ARC moving their New Year’s Day Flat card from Southwell to Newcastle, Southwell applied to host the 2024 card and their application was successful over Fakenham’s.
“We feel very let down by the system,” said Fakenham’s chief executive David Hunter. “We completely understand we have to apply for the fixture on a year-on-year basis, but my concern is how things were judged. It seems prize money contribution has been the overriding factor when it should be the last of five criteria after geography, attendance, race planning and likely television coverage.”
WINNERS FOR SALE
And finally, two Group 1 winners will be going under the hammer later this month at Arqana’s Arc Sale at Sain-Cloud on September 30th.
SAMMARCO, last year’s German Derby winner, will be held up for sale as lot 41 having failed to win yet this season for connections, yet he finished a good third in the Group 2 Prix Foy on the weekend.

A fellow German Group 1 winner will also be available to purchase on the day as MUSKOKA, this year’s German Oaks winner who is unbeaten in three runs, is lot 38 in the catalogue. By SEA THE MOON, she is out of MORNING MIST who is a half-sister BRAMETOT who won two Group 1s including the 2017 Prix Du Jockey Club and now stands for €5,000 having failed to pick up too much success yet as a sire.
So, Equinauts, if you have some spare cash laying about, keep September 30th free in your diary.
YOUNG BLOOD
On the occasions we hit Irish racing with a Young Blood preview, we nail it. Today we look at the 13.15 in Punchestown.
13.15 PUNCHESTOWN
GRAND JOB is a US blood bred girl by Coolmore’s ’we need to diversify’ stallion JUSTIFY. She made a really promising debut in what has turned out to be a good maiden, didn’t improve from that but not written off and she’s the one to beat today.
GREENFINCH is also by JUSTIFY who is enjoying a good season with his 2yo’s and out of 4x Gr1 winner MISTY FOR ME who has produced Gr1 winners US NAVY FLAG and ROLY POLY. Market to guide on debut.
EXPECTING A STAR was a 70k Breeze Up after being a 50k yearling. By ZOUSTAR, the sire of top 2yo’s LEZOO and MIAHARRIS. Market to guide but is expected to know her job well.
RISING SUN by FRANKEL o/o a Pivotal mare. PIVOTAL is a great broodmare sire. Her dam produced COVEY (OR:99) also by FRANKEL. Betting suggests she may come on from the run.
BALANDA represents the same connections of Gr1 winner TAHIYRA. The dam won fto by 7 lengths for the Weld team so pedigree points to a bold run, even if stable doesn’t.
CAMELOT ALEXANDER is a homebred for Mountarmstrong Stud after being unsold for 100k at the yearling sales. Ran green on debut, form is questionable, should improve but best watched today.
TIFFANY TWISTED has had the benefit of a barrier trial which will help. Pedigree leaves a bit to be desired. Best watched on debut.
Verdict: If GRAND JOB can emulate her maiden form she’ll win this and EXPECITNG A STAR could outrun her odds.
STATS OF THE DAY
HORIZON D’OR looks well handicapped for Adam West in the 17.20. Ridden by Jamie Moore, the trainer/jock combo runs at nearly 40% all time (5/13).
RISK ON
Wouldn’t put anyone off the Opulence double as aforementioned in the above interview with owner founder George Gill.
There is two more plays which will be posted later to catch a drift.
