Racing’s war of attrition against low water tables continues as doubt remains over whether the big guns will appear at Sandown this weekend. Newcastle saw record attendance last week as racing fans flocked to watch superstar CONSTITUTION HILL, proving that all people want to see is the best horse’s race. This is after all horse racing.

Are you planning on having a big weekend racing and just absolutely know you’re going to have a sore head Sunday morning? Then make sure you’re prepared with the essentials… the MYRKL pill.

Myrkl is a miracle pill that makes you feel fresh the next day, after the fun of the night before. Whether you’re going racing Saturday or to the pub Sunday to watch England batter Senegal, take two pills before you start the session and thank me Monday morning.

All of team BGP now take it religiously every day and it’s by no coincidence our bull run started the same time we launched our partnership with UK Meds – whatever happens the night before, we’re able to look at the racing markets with a clear head. That’s legit.

Just try it.

P.s Don’t forget about ‘Le Weekend pill’ either, Cialis. You won’t be thanking me, your partner will.

Now, let’s dive in.

Headline Roundup

Alcohol for Waterhouse and Bott

Sam Fairgray, COO at Yulong Investments, confirmed that their new purchase, ALCOHOL FREE, is set to be trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott in Australia.

The four-year-old topped the December Mares' Sale at Tattersalls Newmarket on Tuesday evening and connections confirmed yesterday that the 5,400,000gns mare would head to the joint-trained operation.

The A$15,000,000 The Everest, ‘the richest turf race in the World’, is set to be her big target as Fairgray said: “If everything fell into place she would definitely take her place for us in The Everest and, given her race record, I think she would be very competitive. She is going into training with Gai and Adrian so it is going to be really interesting to see how she will perform over here.

Skelton's top novice chasers

Dan Skelton revealed another top novice chaser for this season at Haydock yesterday as BALLYGRIFFINCOTTAGE bolted up on his debut over fences.

He beat 148-rated BEAUPORT, who was carrying an eight-pound penalty, by a comfortable 11 lengths and jumped supremely well throughout the race - he has earned quotes of 12/1 for both the National Hunt Chase and Brown Advisory Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

It seems trainer Skelton believes the three-mile Grade 1 is the current long-term preference over the longer novice chase, but nothing is set in stone.

He adds to the debut success of his stablemate LAC DE CONSTANCE who won at Kempton by a wide margin last week, the Warwickshire-based trainer looks to have a promising team of novice chasers this year.

It's a good job too as news came out today that MY DROGO, once a 6/1 ante-post chance for last season's Grade 1 Turners Novices' Chase, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury and the team back at home are happy to wait until next august.

Christmas gambles and a double for The King

The King landed his first double as an owner yesterday as two promising novices bolted up on the all-weather scene – BGP Capital backed them both.

Piloted by the Headturner, BLUE MISSILE , lived up to his name at Lingfield to land the 1m fillies' novice stakes for William Haggas, whilst debutant SLIPOFTHEPEN emerged from the Kempton fog to trot in for John & Thady Gosden.

You don’t need to have royal blood to land gambles of OPULENT spoils. GET IT. Stuart Williams landed his Christmas bet thanks to the well-backed HUBERTS DREAM for Opulence Thoroughbreds.

Priced at 16/1 overnight, he went off at 2/1 and won doing handstands under Richard Kingscote - the two-year-old was stuffed on his three previous starts but landed the spoils yesterday on his handicap debut off a mark of 63. Cheating at it’s finest but its why we love this god damn sport. That reminds me… I can’t wait to run my horses next year.

Risk on

The racing Twitter tipping contingent all seem to be on Kim Bailey horses today and as are we, but not necessarily the ones everyone else seem to be on. Always the contrarian view, hey.

13.40 IMPERIAL HURRICANE & 15.10 UNDERCOVER LOVER

Posted these two in BGP Capital last night at big prices but their support indicates they’re probably now worthy of small straight win bets. The Imperial lot are bullish on theirs, despite the market moves on Potter’s horse and UNDERCOVER LOVER is supposedly Baileys best bumper horse this season. Small singles and a small double.

13.47 GEORGES SAINT

Ran well in a warm race lto at Bangor. Strong bet at 11/10.
