It’s been a tough week of punting with most of our bets coming second but there's one girl we like today…

Lets dive in.

BGP FANTASY LEAGUE COMP

We’ve been hyping up the TOTE’s new Fantasy game since we found it. Why? Simply because there is nothing else out there now which can help people cage the betting chimp while maintaining an emotional interest in the big races of the day.

People bet way too much and the Fantasy allows you to get limited risk on, fill your brain up with the dope it craves and still be in the mix for a big win.

If we hit 100 stables today, top of the BGP private league comes golfing with BGP Capital - we’ll run the comp until someone wins!

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

CHURCHILLS TOP BOY RETIRES

The highest rated son of CHURCHILL retires to start with a nice profile. Feelings suggest he could have had a better season this year but the Arc obviously took quite a bit out of him.

The four-year-old by CHURCHILL won the French Derby last season before travelling to Sandown for the Group 1 Eclipse. Jean-Claude Rouget then sent him off to the Arc to conclude his season where he finished second to the brilliant ALPINISTA.

His two slightly disappointing runs this season has cemented his fate to start his new career as stallion at Haras de Bonneval, but boy, what a horse he was on his day.

Being owned by the Aga Khan, we can imagine how well related VADENI is. He is out of a MONSUN mare who despite being unraced, also produced a Listed placed filly. VADENI’s mother is well related being a sister to multiple Group winner VADAMAR, Group 3 winning two year old THE PENTAGO and other black type horses.

MONSUN has always been a fantastic broodmare sire. It’s interesting that SEA THE MOON who has had an exceptional year as he too is out of a MONSUN mare. He’s by SEA THE STARS, a brother to GALILEO who is the sire of CHURCHILL.

WALDGEIST is another out of a MONSUN mare, he’s by GALILEO and his eldest off spring are yearlings.

Happy retirement, VADENI, we look forward to backing your monster sons in a few years.

SEPTEMBER SHAPING UP

September’s fillies Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes looks set to be a much anticipated renewal with two horses who ran last weekend holding entries.

As well as Aidan O’Brien’s impressive YLANG YLANG, connections of the Phoenix Stakes runner-up, PORTA FORTUNA, are eyeing up the seven-furlong contest at the Curragh as they will most likely “train her towards that and see”.

Representing the British, Burkes TOO DARN HOT winner of the Sweet Solers Stakes, FALLEN ANGEL, is also a likely contender for the overseas race as well as the Albany Stakes failed gamble horse, CARLA’S WAY for the Crisford’s.

Joe Foley, racing manager to owners Clipper Logistics, said: “We were delighted with the way Fallen Angel won at Newmarket and she’ll probably go to the Moyglare Stud Stakes next depending on the ground. If not, she has the back up of the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster a few days later.”

What a contest if all turn up!

BIG DREAMS

Finally, connections of SCAMPI, the progressive Raceshare-owned five-year-old, are eying up a move to send their Shergar Cup winner to Australia.

The 98-rated son of NAYEF has won twice so far this season, last seen winning in the Racing League (obviously Saffie was riding), and is not set to contend the Ebor Handicap next week if he gets in off his current mark, which would be a close call.

If he runs and wins the feature race of the meeting at York, he will automatically be in the Melbourne Cup down under and connections of the horse are relishing this prospect and rightly so…what a day out!

“We are massively keen to come to Australia," said Lucy Delaney, Managing Director for the syndicate. "He would need to continue his upward curve but if we get the chance to come and join the Australians for the top races over there, we certainly will.

“We'd need a further jump in the ratings, in either the Ebor or a race soon after that, to get into the Caulfield Cup, but we have also put down for the Melbourne Cup as well.”
