Gm Equinauts
Gm. Today marks a truly sad time in the history of horse racing.
Cherish Chepstow today, for it’s the last time we ever get to see those fucking beautiful red and brown silks on track.

Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
SENSE PREVAILS
We can always rely on Aga Khan Studs to do the right thing.
After the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, we pleaded a couple of times in this newsletter to see DARYZ race next year. He is an important horse for the Aga Khan, but surely retiring him after one Group 1 win would have been a short-sighted thing to do?
Well, our reasoning was proven right, as connections announced that DARYZ would race again next year… and the crowd went wild!
🚨 #Daryz (#SeaTheStars), who gave the Aga Khan family a record 8th victory in the Arc, will remain in training at 4 and will not race again this season.
His victory @paris_longchamp has been rated the best performance in Europe this season, with a @Timeform rating of 131. 🟢🔴

Furthermore, their reasoning for the decision is more or less in line with what we were thinking.
Nemone Routh, racing manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France, said in a statement: "Daryz has taken his race very well and is in good form following his top-class performance. He is a beautiful horse who resembles his sire and has a great constitution. He progressed throughout the season and we are very much looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish next year.
"On the day we decided we weren't going to talk much about the future as we wanted to enjoy the moment as it was a very emotional day. We said we'd regroup towards the end of the week when the dust had settled and see how the horse came out of the race.
"We had a call this morning with Francis and Princess Zahra and the team, and I spoke to Mickael during the week as well, and discussed everything. We just felt that he's only really just coming to himself now and if we rushed him off to stud it would almost look like we didn't have confidence in him, which isn't the case at all.
"It wasn't a surprise he won on Sunday because we held him in very high regard and we believed he was capable of a performance like that. He's a May foal and his sire and dam tend to produce horses who improve. Mickael said he'd got better with everything he's done this year. He's a very genuine horse and we thought sending him to stud would send the wrong message."
There are two important lines there. “If we rushed him off to stud it would almost look like we didn’t have confidence in him” and “we thought sending him to stuff would send the wrong message”.
Absolutely.
Winning the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and then saying goodbye would have been like the schoolkid taking his ball away from the playground when his team had just edged into the lead. These are racehorses, and touch wood, he will still go off to stud the following year with a lofty reputation.
By running him in 2026, the Aga Khan are probably doing more good, both by the horse and with their own interests of stud value, than taking him away to stud and asking breeders to send their mares to him with a bit of ambiguity in the air.
Connections are apparently going to campaign him over 1m2f and 1m4f in Europe next season. Superb stuff.
We can’t wait to see him in some races like the Coronation Cup, Prince Of Wales’s, Tattersalls Gold Cup, Juddmonte International, Coral-Eclipse, and more. Good job, team.
