I am literally my own cliff horse. I’ve backed myself every day this week that BGP Capital would be launched, it’s still not live. There is good reason for it though, there’s been a few coding issues as well as the fact it needs to be perfect. Also, I REALLY didn’t anticipate GDPR compliance to be such the ball ache it is, fuck me.
Anyway, it’s ready to go now and I’m just deciding to whether to launch it today, Thursday or wait for Friday. Everyone loves a Friday. When we press this newsletter, let me know when you want BGP Capital to launch – tonight or tomorrow.
There will be a charge to register your interest. Why? To be able to produce reliable cashflow forecasts based on numbers of those who are serious. It’ll allow me to work out how many horses I can buy, at what average target price whilst factoring in the training costs associated to get them to the track and ultimately divested.
We will leave the interest registration page only open for a few days. Once we have gathered the data, we will then request everyone to buy the package they have registered interest in (there are three membership packages – Handicapper, Listed and Group 1 housing different features).
This is not your typical ownership, so I’ll make no bones about how important it is to rid your pre-conceived ideas you have of what this might or even should entail.
If you don’t trust this process, don’t buy in.
If you can’t honor the financial commitments*, don’t buy in.
If you can’t afford to lose the money invested, don’t buy in.
If you want to know what horses you’re buying into, you won’t be – don’t buy in (go find a racehorse syndicate).
If you have any fucking doubts at all, I don’t want you to buy in.
*The minimum TOTAL financial commitment for this membership is £360 all in. The maximum, Group 1 level is £1080 all in.
For those having read all that and still wanting in, I look forward to trading with you soon.
Now let’s dive in.
Headline Roundup
Fantastic four for Buick
Annoyingly, we actually discussed the idea of chucking up a lunch money ‘Buick at Sandown’ acca but after the Ryan Moore one bombed last week, we thought better of it. Obviously he went a rode a four-timer. Classic. A proper riding display too.
The best, and most exciting, of his victories came through his first of the day, LOCAL DYNASTY, who stepped up in trip effortlessly to win the £10,000 novice event over a mile. He is now a general 33/1 shot for the 2000 Guineas and the Derby next year, though he isn’t entered for any of the big end-of-season races currently.
He looks a smart one.
Local Dynasty (Dubawi) does this really well and looks another exciting juvenile colt for William Buick and Charlie Appleby at @Sandownpark@godolphin

He has improved from his fifth in the Acomb over seven furlongs and impressed Buick, as he said: “I'm delighted to get him back here today, and stepping up to a mile suited him.
“He handled the ground but he's better on good - he's a big, strong horse and he'll be even better next year."
The Champion Jockey-elect guided home another Godolphin two-year-old 35 minutes later, a DUBAWI colt named STRIKING STAR, before securing success on BAYSIDE BOY and I’LL BE THERE.

Champion BAAEED off to the Champion Stakes
Revealed in the BGP Capital newsletter three weeks ago, Shaggas told the world yesterday that his best-ever horse, BAAEED, will miss the Prix l’Arc de Triomphe in early October and instead head to the Gr1 Champion Stakes at Ascot two weeks later. I shit you not, when the l’Arc hype started and BAAEED started to get the squeeze – BGP 1 met every exchange backer with a smile, from the opposite side of the market. Yesterday’s headlines were a thing of beauty.
@Ascot I literally broke this news 3 weeks ago.

According to Matt Chapman on Sky Sports Racing, Shaggas “emphasized that this was very much his decision, and it was the race that he always wanted BAAEED to run in”.
Breaking: Baaeed will NOT run in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and will instead head to the Champion Stakes at @Ascot

It’s ironic that Chappers would be the one to tell us this news, as you may recall, he was the broadcaster who slightly forced Shaggas to say that the Arc was a possibility to get everyone off his back - remember THAT awkward interview on ITV Racing.
"He was imperious; nearly as good as Frankel"
A Yorkshireman wins the Juddmonte International.
What a poignant moment for @WilliamHaggas

Following the news, the SEA THE STARS colt shortened up to 1/3 for the 1m2f Group 1 at Ascot on Champions Day.
Whichever way you look at this, the connections of BAAEED have made the smart decision. For Shaggas, he can potentially collect another £737k towards the trainers’ championship and we know the horse will be fine over the distance, pleasing his owners for his stallion career.
However, it is a shame that he isn’t going to the Arc. Without meaning to sound too much like Kevin Blake, our sport has become somewhat predictable in recent times – we have rarely seen connections throw a ‘Hail Mary’ with their horses and try their hand at a big race.
BAAEED to the Arc could have been that spark to rejuvenate ambitions across horse racing – if he would have succeeded in the race, he would have secured himself as ‘one of the greats’ alongside his dad and yes, FRANKEL.
Oh well, we move on.

RACING LEAGUE WEEK 6
The Racing League is back for its final fixture of the season, and it is all to play for at the top.
Following the abandonment of racing last week, the points going into week six include what each team earned during the first two races at Southwell – unfortunately, no Twitter page has posted what each team is on, but we know London & The South are top by 36 points to Wales & The West in second.
Amazingly, six of the seven teams are set to field a maximum squad of 14 runners for the trip up north – take a guess at which team has failed to do so. That’s right, it’s Team Ireland, although they are still sending 11 to Newcastle, which is a decent number.

Jamie Osborne has enlisted the help of Frankie Dettori for a final try at securing the top spot on the leaderboard – he rides two horses for the boys in red, POSTMARK in the 17.45 and OUT FROM UNDER in the 19.15.

Chester Williams in intensive care
On a more somber note, 25-year-old jockey Chester Williams is in intensive care following a fall at his family’s Culverhill Farm racing stables on Tuesday.
Having ridden 34 winners for his mother, Jane, across nine years, including a victory in the 2019 Welsh Champion Hurdle onboard MONSIEUR LECOQ, Chester has no broken bones but is in Plymouth hospital’s intensive care unit.
Absolute thriller! Monsieur Lecoq travelled sweetly and battled all the way to the line to claim the Welsh Champion Hurdle under Chester Williams for @NandJ_WilliamsR at @FfosLasRC

We at BGP Capital wish you a speedy recovery, Chester.
Risk on
Note: Several horses we’ve been told to back, as well as our own picks. REZ the strongest pick and HOBSON POINT the strongest word. There are three picks we see as each way to nothings. If the potential outlay on 5 singles in one day is too much risk, play the ew bets in an ew Trixie or treble (16.30, 18.00 and 19.00).
14.17 REZ
Half bro to Group horse, HAPPY ROMANCE and gets weight from his rival. 2/1 could look good post-race. Leverage potential. Full bet.
14.52 HOBSON POINT
Has been working with MARSHMAN and HOLLOWAY BOY (obviously getting pumped) but he is good, and they’ve taken their time with him. Expected to win today. Half bet at 7/2 (yard took the ew prices).
16.30 ORIOLE 9/2
Owned by BGP clients (same owners of BULLACE), she’s a good horse and we think this girl is an ew to nothing. Her form behind SHAMPION could be good, Varian’s lot think she is a 100 horse. Full bet ew.
18.00 RADIO GOO GOO
Our second of three ew’s to nothing. She hasn’t won yet because she’s been bumping into 100 horses. Carries fuck all weight today and has only been consistent. Hoping to take advantage of a Godolphin horse taking too much of the market. Half bet at 9/2.
19.00 APOLLO ONE 9/2
Career low weight, surely his time is close and today could be the day from stall 1 with the champ onboard. Small bet ew.
