OAK CREEK is a nice staying horse who, just like Skelton's the previous day, was unfortunately never really put in the race.
NOT THAT FUISSE II: OAK CREEK

Gambling is all about getting risk on the perfect set up. NOT THAT FUISSE and OAK CREEK were defo the right horses for the race but the jocks on top took away from the A* set up. No bad mouthing them or throwing toys out the pram, it's my risk to own but lesson learned (always learning)... stick to the likes of Paddy Brennan who'll boot anything over the line in front.
Now, let's dive in.
Headline roundup
Can you ride a horse? Racing might need you!
Well, where to start here?
The BHA revealed yesterday that 19 jockeys had been banned for whip infringements following the first week of the new whip regulations.
Butcher's bill from week one of new whip rules: 19 individual jockeys suspended for a combined 133 days

Of the dozen and a half infringements, Lorcan Williams was handed an 18 day ban for his ride on the weekend, Kevin Brogan on the second, COLLECTORS ITEM, was also banned, and Charlotte Jones, rider of LUNAR DISCOVERY at Ayr last Tuesday, saw her mount disqualified from the race for using the whip four times before the second last flight.
It was a bloodbath on Racing Twitter yesterday, with people questioning why all the jockeys were banned on the same days, meaning that nine jumps meetings will be happening between the 7th and 10th of March with less jockeys to choose from.
If we had an independent body appraising the BHA on their tackling of the whip and interference, they would be up on a disrepute charge.
The time and resource wasted on this small issue when things like the fixture list are a shambles, is beyond thought.

18 days ban, £1000 fine, no @CheltenhamRaces and a day at racing school for training for a lad using a foam padded whip on a horse 2 times over the limit. Welcome to the dictatorship @BHAHorseracing. Disgraceful. NO WELFARE ISSUE. Brilliant ride @williams_lorcan Yeeehaaa! 🏇🙏🙏

Unfortunately, these rules as they stand are in place and on the face of it, these jockeys have gone against them. Unfortunately, there can’t be many issues about the punishment right now as anyone with a brain cell knows, the problem isn't with the penalties, it's more deep rooted towards why there was a damn rule change in the first place.
My view is that the BHA have acknowledged they've been historically inconsistent with policing the old racing/whip rules and therefore made a slight law change so as to be able to have a 'fresh start' and come down hard on law breakers without them being able to retort 'well what about so and so' ride last week...why me?'.
The trouble is, this fresh start smells nothing more than fresh dog shit from racings point of view as the changes are wholly pointless and over the top in equal measure.
Rather than changing the permitted whip use, all they needed to do was be more consistent with the old law penalties. But instead the jockeys are now suffering from the BHA's incompetence.
Kevin Stott to Amo Racing
Following last season’s announcement around Rossa Ryan, flat jockey Kevin Stott will be the new retained rider for Amo Racing going forward.

Last seen slaughtering a field to win the Gr1 Ascot Gold Cup by 5 lengths, SUBJECTIVIST is set to return to the racecourse on the weekend and line up in the Gr3 Longines Red Sea Turf H. at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Saudi Arabia.
HE’S BACK!
🏆 Gold Cup winner SUBJECTIVIST will return to action in the Red Sea Turf Handicap after a 20 month break
Hear from trainer Charlie Johnston about his road to recovery 🙏🏻

The 6 year old entire had a tendon injury and has been out of action for 20 months. Before that he was stamping himself as the next best Stayer in Europe. He won the Gr1 Prix Royal Oak and the 2021 Gr2 Dubai Gold Cup in record time. It’s interesting Charlie (and Marky boy) Johnston have brought their superstar back at this time of year rather than a prep run before another tilt at Royal Ascot but the riches on offer in the Middle East are a very tempting dangling carrot. The Longines Red Sea Turf H. has a value of $2,500,000. It‘a no penalty kick for Subjectivist however as he takes on 12 rivals which include the improving ENEMY and Stayer stalwarts NATE THE GREAT and AL QAREEM. He has also drawn gate 13 of 13, not helpful to say the least.
Another noticeable name from Europe who will be running in Saudi Arabia on Saturday is MISSED THE CUT who will be partnered by Oisin Murphy for his 'this has been the long term plan' Gr3 Neom Turf Cup bid.

Hearing Ryan Moore extremely unhappy with George Boughey giving Oisin Murphy the ride on Missed The Cut. Moore turned down two rides in the race, expecting to be given the ride, having rode for Boughey this winter.

Today's best stats
Three shorties repping the most bullish stats today.
The champ Hughes rides AUBIS WALK for Nicky Richards in the opener. Trainer/jock sr is 3 from 7 at track and Richards has a good record in novice hurdles at Sedgefield.
Fergal lands well over 1 in 3 in handicap chases at Huntingdon and sends point and chase debut winner GREAT HEART'JAC there for the 13.40. Paddy steers.
MULLINAREE has good point form behind GINTO and SINCE DAY ONE so could be well handicapped in the 14.40 for Harris. Harris and Bastyan are 5 from 7 together at course.
Small 'tin foil hat' stat for the outside of the 15.50 MAGIC MIKE at 16's. Craig Nichol very profitable for Paul Robson when teaming up and it might be no coincidence that Paul Robson drops the handbrake on this thing the SAME MONTH THE NEW MAGIC MIKE FILM IS RELEASED.
