Equinties - big weekend

Okay, I have to admit, until this morning when I had to find some content for this newsletter, I had completely forgotten how insanely impressive CONSTITUTION HILL was back in March.

I tried to plug some Cialis yesterday to those who like to go hard at the weekend (pun intended, obviously) but honestly, if the thought of this monster out again doesn't get you jacked to the tits...then racing isn't for you. And neither is sex probably.

That said, if you are looking to raise your game and go all weekend (ON DEMAND) , then try it out. Your partner will thank you for it. And girls... I know there's a few reading this, buy some for your man and thank me later.

Let's dive tf in. Woof!

Headline Roundup

Pembroke > Spartan Army

Talking of 'big' performances and getting excited, I can't help but feel people massively overreacted yesterday to SPARTAN ARMY's performance at Wetherby.

Okay, RacingBlogger was allowed to be over-enthusiastic because he landed a big bet on it. Fine.

But, for the other people creaming their pants over it, I really think they genuinely don't realise how bad the race was.

IT WAS A FIVE HORSE RACE BETWEEN CRAP FLAT HORSES.

One was by fucking ESTIDHKAAR (God, that's annoying to spell)... he's never had a fucking jumps winner.

Racing Twitter needs to calm tf down. For the insane price tag, King's did what it NEEDED to do yesterday, nothing else.

Prediction: The horse won't get over 120OR.

The real performance was PEMBROKE. He's actually going to be a good NH horse.

The clash is ON... for now!

CONSTITUTION HILL and my biggest (horse) girl crush, EPATANTE are set to clash on Saturday as Nicky Henderson has declared both of his stars for the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth.

Obviously all eyes will be on the young monster, CONSTITUTION HILL but I have to admit, I have a real soft spot for EPATANTE.

I've backed and tipped her so many times and every. single. time. she has delivered. Aintree, Kempton, Cheltenham (even if it's to place), Newbury, wherever, it doesn't matter, she always runs her huge race. She deserves more credit, I love her.

Another reason why I love her? She turns up on any ground, so I know she's defo going to be allowed to run her race Saturday... which can't be said for CONSTITUTION HILL, whose trainer, Hendo, needs soft for.

With the going currently at good to soft, the clerk of the course is hopeful that they can get ‘genuine winter ground’ to try and facilitate a race between the former Champion Hurdle wonder mare and one of the most exciting horses in the history of horse racing.

Newcastle has started selective watering on some parts of the track despite the official going reading good to soft, soft in places - this really is an interesting time that we live in.

Facile Vega NR!

Well... this was supposed to be about how ten minutes after the Fighting Fifth, FACILE VEGA was set to make his highly anticipated seasonal reappearance.

Ah... nevermind.

Other decs

Not much else happened in the world of horse racing yesterday so we are going to round-up the decs for Friday’s main races at Newbury.

Five have been declared for the Grade 2 2m4f Novices’ Chase and it is topped by the Grade 1-winning hurdler STAGE STAR, with BEAUPORT, CAMPROND, SEBASTOPOL, and WONDERWALL making the field.

Over an hour later, six have been declared for the Grade 2 Long Distance Hurdle. One of my favourite horses, CHAMP is making his seasonal reappearance for Nicky Henderson and he is now the market leader following PROSCHEMA’s drift. Why is he one of my favourite horses? His engine. The state of this:

Last year’s winner THOMAS DERBY is also declared alongside PAISLEY PARK, DASHEL DRASHER, and TEA CLIPPER.

Elsewhere, the first race has some very expensive horses clashing against each other as ITTACK BLUE and JET POWERED, who both fetched >300 guineas, make their debut under rules.

And finally, BALCO COSTAL, third in the Grade 3 handicap hurdle won by LANGER DAN at Aintree and second in the Grade 2 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on Trials Day, makes his chasing debut in a limited handicap chase.

And for Saturday, 16 have been declared for the Newbury Gold Cup.
