Equinties - BGP Capital launches

BGP Capital finally launched at the weekend and the response has just been overwhelmingly bullish.

The vote of confidence in BGP Capital is a testament to the trust built online with thousands of racing fans, reflected in the amount of people registering their interest. I mean, I think some people have even signed up without truly understanding what it is we’re doing. Let me explain again below.

The full business strategy is available in the ‘terms’ section of the BGP Capital site, but the brief is quite simple – it’s trading.

Investors’ money is pooled into a ‘fund’ which will be used to invest in young bloodstock targets at the yearling sales. (This is why this business model only works at scale, the more people buy in, the more chance of success). The yearlings will be nurtured, backed and pretrained at BGP Capital HQ until ready to go into training and a strategic ‘exit’ plan will be made for each horse.  In short, the clubs aim is to buy low, sell high and land some big gambles along the way.

That’s the business model, but that’s not where the club benefits end. A Discord will be available to Listed and Group 1 level members providing a live feed of information as and when it comes in so members can see how bets are advised and on what basis, as well as betting mentorship. A community hub for all members and a calendar of social events makes up the rest of the packages.

If you’re tempted to join – you’re going to have to bite the bullet this week as when the doors are closed, they’re closed.

We need you. Why?

Firstly, the bigger the better. The fund will be more powerful the more people join, this increases the chances of success. Secondly, the club’s mission is to ‘help put the odds in YOUR favour’. This is a chance for you to get some real skin in the game and make it pay.

The club will endeavour to make all members part of the 2% club – profitable gambling owners.

If you’re not in, you’ll have to watch from the sidelines and when you see the 2yo’s repping BGP Capital’s colours line up and notice the price start to crash before the off, I've gotta feeling you’ll be kicking yourself.

Headline Roundup

Saturday was Saturday for Equinauts

Six horses were tipped Saturday producing 4 winners and 1 agonising 16/1 place (Teal’s gamble 2nd) getting the betting right back on track.

The easiest money won was backing Charlie Appleby and Godolphin’s dominance on the world stage as MYSTERIOUS NIGHT and MODERN GAMES bolted up in Grade One events over at Woodbine, Canada.

The boys actually completed a treble when NATIONS PRIDE strolled in securing victory at Belmont At The Big Apple in a Grade 3 contest - the combined winning distance between the trio was 17.25 lengths. Woof.

Of the three, MYSTERIOUS NIGHT perhaps has the most potential going forward, being a two-year-old with a Classic campaign yet to come in 2023. This two-year-old colt by DARK ANGEL has an entry for the Gr1 Dewhurst, a race he is 16/1 for (most likely won’t go for the race), whereas MODERN GAMES might head back to the Breeders Cup.

Seven heaven for Varian

An across-the-card seven-timer handed Roger Varian his best day as a trainer on Saturday as the Newmarket-based trainer cleaned up.

Three at Newbury, two at Ayr, and one at Wolverhampton and Newmarket each, Varian now operates at a 28% SR from the last two weeks.

One of the better performances for the yard was ROYAL CHAMPION up at Ayr in the Listed Doonside Cup - he was backed before the off and made all to hose up by five lengths, beating EUCHEN GLEN into second.

This SHAMARDAL gelding is still entered for the Listed Bahrain Turf Club Foundation Stakes at Goodwood tomorrow, though it’s 24-hour declarations for Wednesday’s racing due to the bank holiday yesterday - ROYAL CHAMPION is also a 33/1 poke for the Champion Stakes at Ascot.

However, the most promising win of the weekend was with SAKHEER in the Gr2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.

The two-year-old colt by ZOFFANY travelled like a train into the race and powered home under David Egan when asked - the form might not stack up to much in the long run, however, it's hard not to be visually impressed.

Varian is quite reserved about the long-term prospects of this potential superstar, though he thinks, on pedigree, he could be a Classic contender:

SAKHEER has earned quotes of 7/1 at the very shortest for the 2000 Guineas next year, though some places are offering bigger.

Alerted to a new star?

Hughie Morrison’s STAY ALERT got back to winning ways on Saturday as the three-year-old filly won the Gr3 Legacy Cup despite a troubled passage. Under a calm ride by David Egan, the daughter FASTNET ROCK made it two wins and a second at Newbury for her career, powering past Richard Hannon’s FANCY MAN late on.

She is now a 14/1 shot for the Qipco Fillies and Mares on Champions Day at Ascot, a race topped in the market by FREE WIND at 7/2.
