Savage jet lag but back with a bang.

Let's dive tf in.

Headline roundup

Mark Walsh out

Following his crashing fall on the weekend at Leopardstown, retained rider for JP McManus, Mark Walsh, is set to be on the sidelines for the immediate future after he damaged his vertebrae. Ouch.

The prominent Irish rider was unshipped by RISK BELLE in the mares’ handicap hurdle and could be in danger of missing the Festival.

Alongside him, Davy Russell has also been out of the saddle since his fall on THE TIDE TURNS at Leopardstown on Sunday after bruising a few ribs, but he’ll be back to ride at Navan on Sunday.

He won’t be doing it

Last month’s Warwick Classic Chase winner, IWILLDOIT, will not run in this year’s Grand National due to missing out on qualifying for the race.

The 10-year-old won emphatically over 3m5f on heavy ground off a 363-day layoff lto and connections had been lining up the biggest race in the calendar year, however, Sam Thomas’ bay has only ran five times over fences and horses are required to run six times in order to qualify.

The Diamond Racing-owned gelding had been entered for the Denman Chase on Saturday at Newbury, however, due to the ground being too quick, connections took him out to protect the horse.

This is a tough one for connections as he obviously has ability and would be a live contender for Aintree’s showpiece event – he will now be targeted for the Grande Steeple-Chase de Paris in May.

And finally, with just one day to go until a good day in racing, declarations for the big contests were confirmed yesterday.

FILEY BAY was given nine pounds for his win in the fog at Wincanton lto and he heads a field of 18 for the Betfair Hurdle – last year’s winner GLORY AND FORTUNE, Willie Mullins’ ICARE ALLEN, and AUCUNRISQUE, now reverting back to hurdles, are just some of the names in the race.

Paul Nicholls believes that his RUBAUD is “nicely handicapped” in the big race at 15.35, just 35 minutes after we are set to see GREATETEEN reappear in the Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase. GREANETEEN leads a field of five in what looks to be a procession for the former Tingle Creek winner.

Elsewhere, HITMAN is back out after his King George disappointment, and bleed, in the Denman Chase and JONBON is set to take on arguably his toughest opponent to date over fences as he will battle HADDEX DES OBEAUX in the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase.

Kempton

This is easy. Despite Lavelle's record in the race (and her providing the winner yesterday), Skelton's is a lengths job. Nothing else to say on the matter.

Today's best stats

The last 6 winners of the 13.50 have been won by the short priced fav's. MIAH GRACE 13.50, Henry Brookes best chance today, is priced up 13/8 strong fav and looks the one to beat off the back of a good win lto.

MUMBO JUMBO in the 15.00 goes for Lavelle who is near 40% in handicap chases at track.

Fergal has gone all out to get CRAMBO 15.25 back on trach (pun there). First run after wind op, first time tongue tie AND has Brace back onboard who is 3 from 3 with him.
