The books have taken NO chances with CONSTITUTION HILL next week with early pricing suggesting he’ll go off 7/2 on.
Don’t forget, they couldn’t give him away last time out!
Distance bets it is!
Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
🚫 BANNED
In a historic move, the Welsh Senedd officially voted this week to ban greyhound racing, making Wales the first nation in the UK to outlaw the sport.
The Prohibition of Greyhound Racing (Wales) Bill passed yesterday following years of campaigning by a coalition of charities including the Dogs Trust and RSPCA Cymru.
The legislation, effectively only shuts down one stadium - Valley Greyhound Stadium in Ystrad Mynach—the last remaining track in the country.
While the ban includes a phased transition period through 2030 to ensure the safe rehoming of the dogs forced to retire early, the decision signals a concerning shift in the Welsh government’s stance on all animal racing and the horses are next!
Only if you’re an idiot would you think this ban won’t create a "domino effect" and lead to our beloved horse racing.
Enter the BHA (lol).
With their head in the sand they’re claiming the ban on greyhound racing has ZERO connection to horse racing.
Riiiiight.
When high-profile trainers are warning that the ‘ethical’ reasoning used to justify the dog racing could logically be extended to the equestrian world, how on earth do the BHA think it won’t?
Even though dog racing basically didn’t even exist in Wales, to us, there is now a legislative precedent that animal rights groups can use to target horse racing.
If we’re honest with ourselves, there is a huge argument against horse racing, particularly jumps racing. But dogs!?
You let a dog off the lead and all it wants to do is run, chase and play. Some owners can’t even get their dogs back. We know dogs who’ll chase sh*t until they drop dead. It’s what they want to do and that’s why we love dogs.
The fact you can gamble on it makes it even better! Win win for both human and dog!
We can’t believe greyhound racing in Great Britain is at risk and it does NOT bode well for horse racing.
🏇💨MOORE
RYAN MOORE has been booked to ride CONSTITUTION HILL next Wednesday and Oisin will have to watch from the bench following a ban for ‘totting up’ his whip offences.
The fastest horse in jumps racing is set to continue his unconventional transition to the flat with episode 2 taking place at Kempton and will serve specifically as an administrative purpose to qualify him for targets such as the Ebor.
