If you can't handle losses, you sure as hell don't deserve the winners - a common quote from traders.

Most of the feedback after yesterdays bet on ROARING LEGEND was fine - it happens, but there was some toxicity from those who cant handle an L.

Getting upset about a bet is such an incredibly beta thing to do. Like, it's so beta its actually embarrassing.

Take the L or stop betting.

Let's move on.

Since the TOTE Fantasy inception, BGP Capital have always had the biggest league. They sent a dm yesterday to say if any of our readers have never played the Fantasy but want to try it, they can do FOR FREE using this link:

Let's dive in.

Headline round up

Irish horses lost

It takes a registration release from Horse Racing Ireland for the public to learn about deceased horses. Weird.

On a depressing list to read, Willie Mullins’ DIVERGE is a notable inclusion as the boss of Closutton confirmed that he had suffered a life-ending tendon injury during his Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle effort last week, a race he finished a 108-length last in.

Mullins said that the five-year-old “overreached badly at Punchestown and did a lot of damage to his tendon - we sent him to a veterinary hospital but, unfortunately, he was unable to be saved as a riding horse or as a pet”.

Looking further at the list, MORTAL and MASTER MCSHEE are also no longer with us – our thoughts with everyone connected to the horses.

Hughes goes huge

The Guineas breeze-ups took centre stage for the bloodstock world yesterday and Richard Hughes splashed 200,000GNS on a ZOFFANY colt of a sister to the Group 1-winning GETAWAY and GUADALUPE.

With a strong German family going back a few generations and that link to GETAWAY, a Group 1 winner over 1m4f, Hughes was seriously impressed with what he showed on the track as he said: “I didn’t think he should’ve been able to breeze as quickly as he did given the backbone of his pedigree with Getaway and those staying German horses in his family - he has to be good. I know I have mile-and-a-half horses at home that can’t go that quick, at this time of year anyway.”

The ZOFFANY colt was joint-top lot of the day as Michael O’Callaghan, just a few days after the announcement of the death of his £500,000 breeze-up purchase, put his hand back in his pocket to secure a TIME TEST colt out of an unraced GALILEO sister to the Group 2-winning MIKHAIL GLINKA.

It could be a case of deja-vu for O’Callaghan after the purchase as he said: “He’s a lovely horse and I’m hoping that lightning can strike twice because Crypto Force was bought here last year and he’s bred exactly the same way. He’s a lovely looking horse but there’s not too many similarities between him and Crypto Force, this lad has a lot more Galileo about him.”

Big race previews

13.15 Newmarket Stakes

VICTORY DANCE had a productive 2yo season and his form from the Superlative Stakes is starting to work out. He chased home ISAAC SHELBY who has since won the Greenham quite comfortably. This son of DUBAWI also holds crucial course form, running into 3rd behind NOSTRUM and HOLLOWAY BOY. SALT BAY has only ran twice, but made up quickly into Group 1 company. He came third in the Gr1 Criterium International on heavy going at Longchamp. A deep German Family, he’s by FARHH who is by PIVOTAL and he is out of a GALILEO mare.

CASTLE WAY is a half brother to PALACE PIER and is the mount of William Buick. By ALMANZOR who generally improve from 2yo-3yo and he concluded his juvenile career with a win over course and distance in a Juvenile Nursery.

LIKE A TIGER was a 50,000gns yearling purchase. It’s difficult to gauge his talent as he reared in the stalls last time out but finished 4 lengths clear of the field. He holds course form and could be anything. For a bit of context to yesterdays bet, ROARING LEGEND shits over this lad at home (I still cant believe we got beat).

CIRCLE OF FIRE and RELENTLESS VOYAGER both have to improve to get in the mix today. Relentless Voyager was a 10,000gns foal and he has shown some promise.

Our view: SALT BAY is feared most and any rain will help his chances but the nod goes to  who holds strong form at both the Newmarket tracks. Whispers for Hannon's FORCA TIMAO for Amo at a huge 25/1 for the ew.

Oaks contender

Oaks entry INFINITE COSMOS could be different gravy in the 16.45 at Newmarket. Keep your eyes on her, she is by SEA THE STARS and is trained by Stoutey. She is closely related to CRYSTAL OCEAN also by SEA THE STARS, and the top class performers CRYSTAL CAPELLA and HILLSTAR. Carrying the Rothschild silks, she was second on debut behind SEA OF ROSES who BGP Capital backed lto in France. She missed the break that day and shaped like there was a bundle more in the tank.

NEW FEATURE - YOUNG BLOOD

Notes on pedigree, attractive crosses and sales trends

16.10 Newmarket

SOPRANO is a daughter of STARSPANGLEDBANNER out of an unraced mare and cost 100k gns as a yearling. Yard in good form and there are whispers for this girl.

INDISPENSABLE was a January foal (nice and early), the daughter of first season sire TEN SOVEREIGNS and a Cheveley Park Stud homebred. Dam is an unraced (this is her second foal, first foal hasn’t raced yet) full sister to Listed scorer EMMAUS.

MIDNIGHT AFFAIR. This daughter of DARK ANGEL cost 180k as a yearling, a full sister to the Gr1 placed 2yo RHYTHMN MASTER. Dam was second in the Gr3 Princess Margaret St, a good 2yo race before Royal Ascot. Dam is very well related. Appealing pedigree.

MISS MACH ONE is by first season sire INVINCIBLE ARMY, April foal, dam was precocious running 7 times at 2 inc. a listed win. Dam produced the Mill Reef second last year FIVETHOUSANDTOONE. Respected.

PHOENIX DUCHESS is the trainers first 2yo runner, end of April foal, by first season sire PHOENIX OF SPAIN, young dam who has produced a 2yo winner and she’s a full sister to PARBOLD who was second in the Coventry Stakes (v good 2yo race) at Royal Ascot. Has a good stall, fair amount of money for her on the exchange last night.

Verdict: Fahey doesn’t bring them all the way down for a day out, owners won the race with DRAMATISED last year who went on to score at Royal Ascot. MIDNIGHT AFFAIR makes a lot of appeal. Ew at a juicy price advised if you're playing (8 runners but 7 are unraced so wise to keep the place market involved).

Risk on

As aforementioned, Stoute thinks INFINITE COSMOS is 'special' and she should just be leverage for another today. She's 4/5.

13.50 NATIVE TRAIL, 15.45 KOLSAI and 16.45 INFINITE COSMOS looks a good treble at 6's.

Staking and banking

There was a lot of positive feedback recently from people benefitting from our staking advice. Well, and general bank roll tips too. So we'll keep it here as a reminder.

You need to manage risk by limiting bet size to a fixed % of your bank. The reality is, if you have an edge that'll prove profitable over say, 100 trades but there will be times when you have a string of losses - could be 10 losing bets in a row, it happens. To avoid blowing the account, managing risk to a fixed, low percentage is the only way to stay in the game.

Help keep a healthy bank by betting less and using the TOTE Fantasy game to feed the chimp.
