Equinties - another for the Arc

This weekend’s St Leger was a good one, not least because every single person on Racing X had differing but equally strong opinions on who was going to win the last Classic of the season.

The market was all over the place in the pre’s with all those opinions making pronounced money moves, the majority finally settling on ARREST going off 11/4 fave.

The market was wrong.

In a division that has been murky all year, CONTINUOUS backed up his York win in a big way by hacking up with ease to land the big one for the newsletter under Ryan Moore.

Rounding the Doncaster bend, he looked to be in some sort trouble while stuck in behind horses, yet a moment later Ryan did his thing and they were at the front and not for catching, leaving ARREST’s promising move only capable of silver.

Following the Classic victory, could CONTINUOUS be one to consider for next month’s Arc? He would need to be supplemented…

At 14/1, he will be one to relish the soft ground, will stay out the final few furlongs well, and although he has won over 1m6f, he showed good speed through the St Leger to move from the rear to the front.

With ACE IMPACT, FEED THE FLAME, AUGUSTE RODIN, and HUKUM already in the betting for the race, we could be looking at a nice renewal of the famous race on the first Saturday of October.

Let’s dive in.

You’ve all heard of Viagra. The one time, pump and dump pill. Lasts what - 30 minutes? Rubbish.

For the first time ever, Cialis is available without prescription. And boy it’s an absolute game changer.

Approved for medical use only in 2003, the French call it ‘le weekend’ because basically this thing lasts in your system for 3 day.

Boner’s on demand, for 3 three days!

Perfect for a weekend away when you know you’re going to need a little help.

Try it through UK MEDS, use discount code EQUINTIES10 and thank us later.

p.s none of this is medical advice but we’ve tried it…

HEADLINE ROUNDUP

DONNYS TOP PERFORMERS

DARNATION is by first season sire TOO DARN HOT, another son of DUBAWI hitting the right notes at stud. This filly is out of a GALILEO mare so bred on the famed DUBAWI/GALILEO cross like HENRY LONGFELLOW, NIGHT OF THUNDER and GHAIYYATH.

Karl Burke mentioned the Prix Marcel Boussac instead of the Fillies Mile, and that if ‘she bumped into soft ground she could be anything’.

SUMO SAM set out on a relentless gallop, and made it look easy. Another tough NATHANIEL filly like LADY BOWTHORPE, GOD GIVEN and of course ENABLE. A trip to France is on the agenda, soft ground conditions seem to be a prerequisite. The Prix de Royallieu over 1m6f is the next target, ran on Arc day, a race won previously by SEA LA ROSA and WONDERFUL TONIGHT.

IBERIAN was a beautiful yearling, bred by Ballylinch Stud by their big boy stallion LOPE DE VEGA who stands for €125,000, he cost Teme Valley a cool €200,000. The same team that campaigned BAYSIDE BOY who won the Champage in 2021.

Back to IBERIAN, trained by Charlie Hills who has had great success with the family, IBERIAN’s dam’s sister is FARADAY LIGHT the dam of Charlie Hills’ classic winner JUST THE JUDGE. The Dewhurst looks the obvious route, CHALDEAN took the same route last year, as did hot young sire TOO DARN HOT.

We knew he was good having punted him before at Goodwood when he finished second so it was incredibly frustrating to see him win so well Saturday, but that’s racing and it was a good week’s punting bar that so we move on.

DANCING GEMINI follows the same path as TIP TWO WIN who won the Flying Scotsman in 2017 for trainer Roger Teal. He went on to place in the Guineas at Newmarket. DANCING GEMINI could take up Group 1 entries next month in the Futurity back at Donny. His form was good, without being bomb proof, but his work at home was apparently scintillating. DANCING GEMINI is his dams first foal, and she is a full sister to Gr1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner SPECIAL QUEST. A big bet by the BGP team, he will be our horse to follow next year.

We’ve been telling you all season BLUE POINT is the new daddy keep on side, he has sired 35 individual winners, enough to lead the 1st crop sires list 3 out of the last 5 years and it looks like he’ll get another winner today in ZABRISKIE POINT in the 15.30 Thirsk.

The son of SHAMARDAL had a big week at Doncaster with his juveniles.

BIG EVS has been his flag bearer this year, a Gr2 win in the Flying Childers he was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock. As was GUSHING GOLD, another by BLUE POINT who picked up her first black type when 2nd in the Listed Flying Scotsman. ROSALLION was odds on to win the Gr2 Champagne Stakes but ended up finishing 3rd, maybe he would have been suited to better ground. BLUE POINT’s daughter LES BLEUS was 3rd in the Gr2 May Hill Stakes, she had previously been placed in the Gr3 Sweet Solera stakes.

SANDRINE has been representing the Balding Lanwades teams for a couple of years now. The 4yo daughter of BOBBYS KITTEN won the Gr2 Park Stakes on Saturday to add to her haul of group wins. She first came to the scene when she won the Albany stakes as a 2yo and finished her juvenile career when placing in the Gr1 Cheveley Park. Her 3yo career started over a mile, a fine 3rd in the Gr1 Falmouth she then dropped down in trip to her preferred 7f and beat KINROSS in the Gr2 Lennox Stakes. A possible go in the Foret in October before retiring to stud.

As aforementioned, CONTINUOUS won the last Classic of the year, the St Leger, and in doing so cemented the decision by Coolmore to send a group of mares to Japan to be covered by sons of SUNDAY SILENCE. CONTINUOUS’ dam is FLUFF, a full sister to MAYBE who is the dam of Guineas winner SAXON WARRIOR (By DEEP IMPACT, who is by SUNDAY SILENCE). CONTINUOUS is by HEARTS CRY, who is by Sunday Silence. HEARTS CRY was the only horse in Japan to beat the mighty DEEP IMPACT. He was also placed in the King George, like his dam sire and eventual Arc winner TONY BIN. FLUFF has a 2yo by LORD KANALOA called ANGELICA TREE, and has visited WOOTTON BASSETT twice. A possible Arc contender, but the Japan Cup would be an exciting target as well.

GUINEAS FORM STANDING UP

Yesterday was the final, low-key day of the St Leger Festival and by far the performance of the day came in the Listed Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes as MATILDA PICOTTE took the contest comfortably under Oisin Murphy.

In that four-day old, sticky ground, the three-year-old by SIOUX NATION made all to beat the fancied NIGIRI into second with the returning CACHET a disappointing fourth, though her slight drift in the market did speak volumes.

MATILDA PICOTTE was third in this year’s 1000 Guineas behind MAWJ - who we haven’t seen since - and the brilliant TAHIYRA.

Taking a look back at that race, even the likes of MEDITATE, LEZOO, and OLIVIA MORALDA have gone onto better things, so it seems like the form of this year’s 1000 Guineas is worth following closely.

With CACHET, although she didn’t win, connections can be happy with what she did following her lengthy win away from the track.

Trainer George Boughey said: "The Sun Chariot is the natural step for her if she comes out of it all right. She's going to be sold at the mares' sale at the end of the year and to get her back on track was great."

As for yesterday’s winner, trainer Kieran Cotter said: "Plans were on hold until after today, but we might look at the Prix de la Foret. There's another Group 3 at Newmarket that could be an option too.

“I thought today back at seven and on less testing ground she'd take the beating. She's a serious horse."
