Let’s dive in.
HEADLINE ROUNDUP
ALL DONE
We had a couple of retirements yesterday from two high-profile mares, though one was more significant than the other for the immediate future.
Let’s start with the one of lower importance. LIMERICK LACE, winner of the 2024 Mares’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, will now be covered by CRYSTAL OCEAN.

She was never really the same after this day, but connections did campaign her aggressively after. She ran in the Nash and then went over for the Betfair Chase to start this season.
Not only is she a high-class mare herself, but she is a full sister to the new Cheltenham Gold Cup winner INOTHEWAYURTHINKIN. Woof.
As for the one that is prominent for this year’s Flat season, FAIRY GODMOTHER has been retired.
This is a big shame. She was going to be the number one representation for Ballydoyle in the 1000 Guineas - assuming LAKE VICTORIA wouldn’t make it - and who can forget her fierce Albany success.
Breaking: Fairy Godmother has been retired after aggravating an injury sustained last year.
A Ballydoyle spokesperson told the Irish Field: “It’s the same thing she had last year and it was felt that it would take too long to wait for her to come right again."

If LAKE VICTORIA doesn’t make it, who is the Ballydoyle rep? BEDTIME STORY?
Either way, it’s a shame, but she is off to get covered by WOOTTON BASSETT.
Oh, and away from the retirements list, SPILLANE’S TOWER is set to run in the Aintree Bowl and could even go to Punchestown after.

Adds to what is a fascinating Bowl at the entry stage.
